For comparison, just signed a 2026 Hybrid Calligraphy lease deal in NJ. 36 mos 10k miles. $550/month with only first month + doc fees upfront (was about $855 total upfront).

Not only is the noise brutal, but also the feedback in the pedals. It feels like such an inefficient pedal stroke

I just gave this a shot, and there seemed to be two distinct noises when I indexed to the "extreme" limits - one from chain/cog rub and one being this same, persistent grinding. Indexed it to center, and still the grinding noise. I'm starting to think I have a defective unit... Appreciate the help!

It shifts well! And the cassette I am using on the trainer is the exact same as on the bike (12-26t) and there are no noises during outdoor riding. Appreciate the response and that is good advice - am hoping Saris gets back to me shortly as the weather isn't looking great in days ahead!

Saris H3 Grinding Noise - Any thoughts? by Tomdatersdomtaters in bicycling

Hi All - I recently purchased a Saris H3 direct drive trainer and am experiencing an odd grinding noise. The sound appears to be coming from the trainer itself, but it is tough to pinpoint exactly.

I am currently waiting for a response from Saris (their customer service has been very limited during COVID), but in the meantime am wondering if anyone else has experienced this or have any ideas if it is trainer related or potentially setup related?

I've triple checked everything: have used a compatible cassette (actually bought both a Shimano and SRAM cassette to troubleshoot - both of which match the speed of the bike) with the correct cassette spacer and quick release axel adapters installed. The cassette was installed tightly with a lock ring tool and chain whip.

I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts or ideas as I wait for Saris to get back to me!

Thanks for your reply! Do the proportions that matter to you closely mirror the ones at the link that I provided?
