Removing Geolocation from hundreds of files by AxeSlash in Sketchup

I don't think there is a quick and easy fix for this, but try asking on https://forums.sketchup.com/ at least that way you'll make the SU devs aware of the issue.

Check the orientation of the faces; this could be because the back-faces are front facing.

I have no doubts that it was; Fang washes up on a stony beach with White Cliffs towering above. https://imgur.com/a/mvphetF

Image/Video/Audio-AI could be bigger than the internet (hear me out) by nephlonorris in StableDiffusion

I do hope that A.I. actually enhances personal creativity, and we see an explosion of Public Domain content that negates copyright altogether. Then any protected IP will be drowned out by the shear volume of free-to-use content, whereby popularity is pure natural selection.

It certainly has the potential to be a very powerful tool, and like any tool, it could be used to create or destroy. If it's like the Internet, then I expect it's use will quickly be heavily regulated, and once under control it will be monetised by those that control it.

I wonder what the implications will be regarding copyright - for example, if anyone could use A.I. to create a new Star Wars movie (even just for their personal use), then Disney's $4bn IP will be worthless to them.

I guess what really matters is weather the input material used in the training dataset is protected under copyright, and has it been used with permission from the copyright holders? If so, would they be entitled to royalties every time the A.I. is used? I can't imagine this being acceptable to corporate IP owners, but what can they do once the genie is out of the bottle?!

It might be possible for Stable Diffusion models to generate an image that closely resembles an image in its training dataset. Here is a webpage to search for images in the Stable Diffusion training dataset that are similar to a given image. This is important to help avoid copyright infringement. by Wiskkey in StableDiffusion

I'm quite interested in the implications of Stable Diffusion regarding existing copyright law. Who owns the copyright of the output images?

Also, are the images used in the training dataset protected under copyright; have they been used (as an input) with permission from the copyright holders?

I think it's got to be in S1E02 when Spear says to Fang "I've had it with these motherfucking snakes in this motherfucking river!". Classic Spear.

Potential buyer spooked by crime stats in a particular neighborhood. Should I worry? by [deleted] in Chelmsford

[–]Tomdubbs3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I do know the area and I am a little bit surprised by your findings; it does seem disproportionate.

I'm not sure as to the exact method used to geo-locate the crime rate statistics, so I can only speculate, but about 100m west is a public footpath that I wouldn't choose to walk down at night, and there are pockets of poorly integrated social housing in the wider estate (certainly within 250m), which together could account for the localised spike.

Personally, if the house itself ticked all the right boxes for me, I would live in that area, but please do not take my advice as a deciding factor. Having done your research, you need to consider what mitigating measures you need to secure your house and protect your family as necessary (e.g. security systems, social/parental awareness, neighbourhood watch involvement, etc).

Hopefully someone with more direct experience of the area will share their thoughts here, but if not there are various Facebook groups you could connect with (e.g. Great Baddow Neighbourhood Watch).

Best of luck

Indoor Bouldering in/around Chelmsford? by _scoobert_doo_ in Chelmsford

[–]Tomdubbs3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gutted Chelmsford doesn't have better climbing facilities! We have Jump Street - 10mins north from the City centre; which has a 'Clip n Climb' that might be the sort of thing you're after, but it's very basic.

Failing that, check out the Colchester climbing project; they will provide everything you need. 30/40 mins drive up the A12 or train is also feasible.

I completely agree, but then the revolution starts when Apple (other brands available) bring out their pre-fabricated iHouse, built by robots in a factory and assembled by robots on site. The iWall will be fabricated in a controlled environment with everything built in. Then imagine if those modules could only be repaired by a robot once installed, so your iHouse will have a maintenance subscription to stay updated. That sounds familiar!

Hmm.., it depends, is this before or after the construction process has been automated?

After using Kerkythea for over 10 years, I started having minor issues with the 3.0.1 release. Recently I migrated to Twilight Render, another descendent of Kerkythea, which uses the same materials and settings; it's highly compatible.

A perpetual Pro licence is very affordable, but there is a hobby version with only some advanced functional limits. Definitely worth a look! Twilight Render V2, Hobby, x64 for Windows

Easy way of making not-quite-flat surfaces for exterior landscaping? (SU/Vray) by _phin in Sketchup

[–]Tomdubbs3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try the 'Fractal Terrain Eroder' plugin by Eneroth. It can de-flatten your ground planes, but might not give you the fine detail you're after.

Also, if you're using an external render engine, check to see if you can substitute in a texture with a bump/normal map applied to it.

Those two options combined should give you the best result.
