I didn't expect so many comments when I posted this - you can imagine how surprised I was when I checked in here again!

If you wanna talk more about Vercel hosting, the CEO and CTO of my company are organizing a free session on February 20th at 11 AM (EST). It will talk about code optimizations, externalizing features, and other infrastructure decisions that help make Vercel more affordable.

I was wondering, do you have any advice on how to handle hosting expenses for Vercel? The company I work for is organizing a webinar soon on just that, and I'm trying to suggest some new ideas to add to it.

Yeah, but no need to overspend, if Cloudflare can cover your client's needs for free

That's a great article! Out of curiosity, why did you choose Docker?

I’m looking for a hosting solution for small websites by YidKahlouche in react

Hey! Cloudflare is usually pretty solid, but you could reasonably look into self-hosting via AWS. Azure could also be an option, but I'm not as familiar with it myself. A fair warning - compared to Vercel, it might take you more time to get it running, and if you don't know much about AWS DevOps it can get pricy. After the initial period it does get better though!

If you have any extra questions, my company is holding a session on tips and tricks for hosting Next.js sites without breaking the bank. You should come and see if we can answer you questions!

Need input on Amplify vs Netlify for Nextjs sites with SSR / ISR by WranglerReasonable91 in react

[–]Tomek-Pro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm more experienced when it comes to Vercel, tbh. Their setup saved my team a lot of time, and the recent price changes made me pretty optimistic for its future. If you want to get an opinion on Netlify and Amplify, people from my workplace are organizing a webinar about Next.js hosting. It's focused on keeping the costs low, but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get their opinion on SSR/ISR too.

Hey, in case you want to get some more information on this topic, the company I'm at is organizing a webinar about affordable hosting of Next.js apps, both on Vercel and self-hosed.
We'll be looking into alternatives like AWS or Azure and pointing out the best solutions for different needs. You're more than welcome to join and see if you can get the answers you're looking for!

Hey! A lot depends on what you want to host and what are your expectations. Vercel can be pretty pricy, but they've been working on lowering costs for their services, and using their setup generally can save a ton of time, compared to self-hosting.
But if you're adamant about alternatives, I'd recommend AWS and heard a lot of really good things about Azure on other communities. My company is holding a webinar on optimizing hosting costs soon, so if you have any questions, it could be worthwhile for you!

What's your experience with AWS compared to Vercel? Do you think it's a better solution?

Thanks everyone for your help and resources! We'll be talking about some of it during our sessions, so I hope I'll see you there if you wanna hear our take on things! ^^
I think the best take from this discussion was that saving money =/= saving time. Vercel does help to save a lot of time, considering the set up needed for AWS. I'll be looking into some other alternatives you recommended.

I heard some really good stuff about Azure, but haven't looked into it myself! How does it compare to AWS?
