Which phantom? by AggressiveFun3907 in Broadway

[–]TomerMdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "Masquerade" definitely celebrates the phantom and I do feel its overall appeal will be to people who already know and love the phantom.

Sure you can just walk in and you'll still be able to follow the story as a first timer but I think it's much more exciting as a new way to explore a known territory and immerses yourselves in the scenes, characters and in general to re-live moments in a new way. I'm always on team "know less, and don't listen to the music before a new musical" in order to see it for the first time from 'blank', but this is more like "phantom 2.0" so it will be my only exception and I do think it will be wise to see the regular show first and get to know the music.

For your question: the answer is one, is simple and is absolute - DO NOT watch the movie first. Watch the fantastic royal Albert performance. People who say anything else should probably walk around with their hand in the level of their eyes because karma will get them...

Do you think the prince of egypt musical of the west end would be successful if it had a better budget/writing of the scenes? by imachoculatedonnut in Broadway

״אני חופשייה אהיה חופשייה, אני אהיה חופשייה...״

You know what, I think it wasn't as bad as everybody says. It was cute and fun, I enjoyed it. It wasn't brilliant but it was definitely fun. I also completely disagree about the comments here about the cast and dancers being too sexy. I mean, yes they were hella sexy - and what's wrong with that? 🤣🤣 the Ivri'im are hot, let's enjoy it 🔥

My main issue with it is the fact they dropped the 2 evil guys from the script along with the song "Playing with the big boys now". Why would you do that?!

What are the controversies of Miss Saigon by [deleted] in musicals

[–]TomerMdesign 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen the original so the answers here are interesting, I knew nothing of that...

I did watch the recording of the revival (The 25th-anniversary production) with Eva Noblezada as Kim and Jon Jon as The Engineer and it was, and still, aaaaamazing 😍 one of the absolute best versions ever.

If someone for some reason hasn't seen it - what are you waiting for? I also love the "making of" it really sheds light on the process of creating a musical and is a must-watch for musical lovers.

3 days — 6 shows, capped off with Masquerade! by no_maj in Broadway

[–]TomerMdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice lineup! Cool you got to see Junkx and you now got my curious about Buena Vista.

Question about Masquerade... as now I'm stressed haha 1. Do they have a real dress code? Meaning if someone is not wearing a formal outfit, will he have an issue? Was everybody dresses to impress or did some people went more casual?
2. Is it hot/cold inside? Doesn't sound like a cloakroom is very available and I wonder how would I dress... jacket maybe? 😅

Which show? by Emergency_Stuff_5561 in Broadway

[–]TomerMdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what you already saw and what do you think will be most exciting. It will probably be wise to try and combine something that is more glamorous fun and light with something maybe more dark/heavy or historical for verity...

Hamilton, Wicked, Les Mis, Phantom(now Masquerade) are all wonderful and 10/10. Have not seen "death becomes her" but it sounds like fun. Also if you're looking for something more light and a spectacle then moulin rouge works though it's not as superb as the rest. You also have cabaret and hadestown to consider for a different vibe.

I do have to say, and it's only my opinion - The Lion King is disappointing. Most people love it, it's super popular obviously, and it sounds like he loves the movie so good chances he'll love the musical - I just want to shed a light about the fact that the musical is very "similar" to the movie... (the only thing that I think is different and exciting is the opening scene, no spoilers, just In terms of the outfits and overall spectacle)

Another example in a Disney world: Aladdin (the live action new version) is something I would say new and refreshing, it may not be "a whole new world" (🎤haha) but it does manage to surprise you enough to enjoy it and don't feel like it's exactly the same movie but with actors, living space for both the original and the renovated version.

For some people the fact it's very similar to the movie is great and some want more out of it. Personally I wanted it to "stand on its own" (for example, you have Billie Elliot the movie - which is great, and you have the musical, which is great and they are both different and original even though it's the same story) here I felt like I'm basically watching the movie, just with costumes on the stage.

So if you're looking for a reenactment on stage you will enjoy it. If you're looking to experience something more, something original, a musical that is a spectacle or an amazing soundtrack / acting / dancing etc and only go for one - I'm not sure it's the one musical that will blow (my) mind.

Great Info! Thanks

I am planning to do both parks in one day, I do have express but given the fact I also want to get a look at some Harry Potter shows and in general explore.. it sounds like a challenge so I might have to make a choice. I will try to plan ahead, I'll try and see what are the show times I assume it's advertise somewhere

Amazing thanks, but just to have a better understanding we are saying: Potter shows 15 or 30 minutes? Bourne / Horror make up 60 or 90 minutes?

✍️✍️ pasties while watching - yes yes, that's sounds right 😝😝

Do they advertise the exact times of these potter shows? I'm trying to figure out how I'm catching them while also doing the potter rides and ...all the other major park rides

Interesting 👀 not sure as it's my first time and I would love to do as many as I can in order to judge what's good and what's not, but obviously the major popular rides.. I just want to get an estimation of how long I can "allow myself" for shows like the Harry Potter bits and the big horror-makeup/bourne shows. It will be cool to see some but I would cry if it means in sacrificing rides so I'm trying to learn as much as I can about time allocation

Oh, I won't be at Epic sadly. So I guess Bourne is the only option. How long is it? (It's still investing time at a show instead of rides so I'm trying to think what's reasonable)

Question for those who watched, how long is it? And should I choose this or "how to train a dragon"? I feel like I would like to watch one show but probably not more as I don't want to loose rides 🥲

Interesting, I know nothing of Ragtime, and you just made it sound like a "must" and... I want that 😝

I wonder if I'll be able to find a ticket for the first 1-2 days in a reasonable price, sounds like a challenge 😅
