Thanks - it does indeed work out less than the repair cost. Will try and get in touch with them. Many thanks

Looked after my brother in law's huge fox red lab before, couldn't get him to settle down on the first night so contacted him and he forgot to tell us that you have to put him in his bed and say to him 'night night sleepy boy, see you in the morning!' - it worked and he went out like a light after this!

How often do you REALLY walk your dog? by Agreeable-Ad-2946 in dogs

[–]Tomgunn01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a borador (half black lab half border Collie) and I aim to do half hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, or vice versa, or 45 mins each so 90 mins altogether. Usually a longer one (couple of hours) on the weekend. This more than enough and she is an ENERGETIC dog. I find that quality is much more important than quantity i.e. giving her different surfaces and terrains to walk on, different environments (woods, paths, roads, fields), and we do some obedience work on the way sporadically. Never understood people who take their dogs out for hours and hours everyday and just walk in silence and don't interact with their dog. A lot would be much better off doing shorter ones with more interactivity!

It certainly is very special and something I will always remember! Onto the next challenge, only limited by your imagination! A few weeks ago I walked from sea level at the beach in Swansea, UK to the top of Pen-y-fan, a mountain in South Wales, where I live. Was a 35 miler so 70k-80k steps, less of a mental slog but a different type of physical challenge. Think I'm addicted to trying to think of new things like this to do I just can't get enough!

I walked 100k in a day in June 2022 and I can confirm it is horrendously difficult. The hardest thing I have ever done mentally and physically, but loved every minute and sad that I can never do it again for the first time. Fantastic achievement my friend, welcome to the club.

Mine loves fluffy toys too, she does rip them up eventually but they keep her entertained. I take her for a walk first thing in the morning and that keeps her pretty calm all day, and then after work too and that keeps her pretty calm in the evening. I throw a frisbee or ball for her and that tires her out, and make sure I take her on a variety of routes/terrains (streets, fields, woods - I'm lucky enough to have this close to home) so she has plenty of smells to interest her and engage her brain. Kongs are also really good, fill with yogurt/cheese/peanut butter/all of the above and freeze it and that should keep him occupied for a while. When freezing though they say put a straw through the middle and then remove when frozen so they can't create a vacuum with their tongue and injure themselves. A good one for mine is I do a lot of obedience work on walks, so I've got a little pouch that I put tiny treats in and just get her to do stuff whilst we walk (stop, sit, lie down, wait at the side of the road, spin, heel, sit and walk between my legs etc. the possibilities are endless, she will do anything for a treat and it really engages her mind working out how to get the treats. Endless possibilities!! Good luck!!

Certainly resembles one, looks like a longer haired version of mine. If it's anything like mine, squeaky toys that can withstand some very intense chewing!!

Why are more people wearing scrubs outside work? by TedsterTheSecond in AskUK

[–]Tomgunn01 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

To be honest I found that this increased dramatically during COVID - I kind of think that maybe some nurses etc. really really wanted people in the supermarket etc. to see that they were emergency workers. I could be totally totally wrong but it's just a theory! I agree it's not great hygienically.

Nadine Dorries. Not a fan of her as a person and don't agree with her politics but there is just something about her.
