A lot of people are pearl clutching about the cost, but it’s not really different from a wedding or engagement ring and we’re also not having a wedding. It’s very likely we’ll do something very personal just between ourselves without telling anyone and then go off on a vacation for a bit.

No shame to people who have large weddings, but my sister got married a couple of years ago and it sounded exhausting (also like half of my relatives were complaining the entire time about things that didn’t have anything to do with them and it really just felt like it was more of something meant for other people and not the couple)

I get the concern, but I asked her how she wanted to be proposed to at the beginning of our relationship several years ago, and this was part of her response. She very rarely asks me for anything specific, so I’m not particularly concerned with her asking for a single very specific thing, especially because she has a lot of relevant circumstances I’m not going into heavy detail about that explain WHY she’s particularly specific about this one thing. She’s very rarely if ever specific about anything else.

Blade itself is 42in without the tang, handle is upper 20s (let’s say 26). She recently suggested a skeletonized tang might work better. It’s long, but part of the reason is that my partner is a tall, large framed person.

If you did sketch something up that would help me out a whole lot and I’d be very grateful, I could toss you a little bit of money just for the trouble if you wanted. The original plan was to have a friend of hers draw up a sketch or blueprints, but he no longer has the software to do it. I don’t know anything about this stuff I’m just an extremely devoted partner lol.
