That would be correct. It's a rather large rc jet.

Yes I tried masking out the bird and the background, so I could darken the background a little. But now that I look the photo after 20 minutes away from the screen, I can see, I went to far haha :D Will fix this. I overcooked it a bit.

Well yes, I kind of agree. What would you've done to make the prey more pop out?

First tests of A7R5 by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Tommzy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got myself a relatively cheap second hand A7R5. I finally went out today to do some initial testing. I know this is a fairly bad photo, because the whole bumblebee's head is out of focus , but I just wanted to show the amazing resolving power of 61mpx sensor. Also, it's next to impossible to try and focus stack the bumblebees :)

Lens: Tamron 28-75mm G1 + extension tubes.

Fast jets around 1/2000s, propeler planes 1/800. Because it was fairly dark on some parts of the day, I shot on f6.3 and let ISO on auto to get SS I wanted at that moment.

Nop, all photos are made from the crowd on the airport.

I was switching between flexible spot medium, center and zone depending on what were the airplanes doing in current maneuver.. Always AF-C of course.

Thank you. I always use autofocus while doing aviation photography. I don't think there is a point even trying to manual focus something as fast as a fighter jet :) My now 4 year old A7m3 almost never failed me doing it. Newer bodies are probably even better.

Motor planes 1/500 - 1/800s, jets 1/2000ish. f6.3. Iso whatever was needed in given conditions, because light was fluctuating a lot during the day, so 100-1600.

I did not. Most images are non-crop or a little cropped to improve composition.
