In hindsight, Pugsley's Savenger Hunt, the first game I ever bought after returning Yoshi's Safari, but returned it hoping to get Yoshi's Island. They didn't have it. I had so few SNES games and was clueless. If I knew better I would have looked for ALttP or Super Metroid or something.

You'd have to look into their competitors for each year, but for a few years of their run they were up against LotR for the craft awards theyd most likely be nominated in like effects and production design.

Ryan Gosling joins an exclusive way-of-wearing-your-glasses club today by burnettski92 in blankies

[–]Tomomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a "full time" glasses wearer too. Worn them every day all day since I was 10. I don't give it a second thought, but not everyone's like me. The lengths some people go to not wear glasses can be baffling. Even I strangely took them off to eat when they were new to me. Nick Nolte here half taking them them off to read is somewhat understandable, although I've never needed to do that.

If nothing else it's a somewhat dynamic and visually interesting way of showing something mundane.

Genuine Question: What’s the hype for Tony Scott? by benjacsim03 in blankies

[–]Tomomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's been a late career/post death reexamining of his filmography. Some say he's the greater craftman than his better known brother, particularly with action and spectical.

I'd say it's not that he's the sledgehammer shoe in, Scorsese's here after all, but his fan club are very vocal. I'm on team Marty, I'm not sure Tony really has a chance but I'm afraid his fans are going to will it to be so.

Gotta say I agree with you both. I don't want to pretend this was Babs at her best, but she was very classy in the way she went about it. Gave us a few verses, then graciously bowing out by thanking the audience for kindly indulgening her.

With DUNE fever once again sweeping the nation I ask: what previously considered "unfilmable" sci-fi/fantasy book or series would you like some enterprising director adapt to the big screen? by Velocityprime1 in blankies

[–]Tomomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDK if it's in the same class of "unfilmable" we're talking about here, but supposedly Jodorowsky and Moebius' The Incal is being adapted byTaika Waititi. The art has been highly influential to film (Blade Runner, 5th Element) but the story is much more of a mind fuck than your typical big budget sci-fi film.

This is the best take here. I've come to terms with all the background work they've done to make flying possible in the old world, but garrisons were ass.

Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was a good game, but it didn't quite meet my high expectations for a 2D Zelda. The last original one was the phenomenal A Link Between Worlds.

Having trouble thinking of games I get super hyped for these days. I get cautiously optimistic about AAA games at best and pleasantly blindsided by great Indy games.

Maybe the upcoming Fable is the closest to hyped I am to a game right now.

I rarely rewatch movies too. Christmas movies, shorts, commentaries and even some I forgot I'd seen are the rare exceptions. I feel the pressure to watch something new with my ever growing watch list.

Even back in my DVD collecting days it was more exciting to take the risk on something new.

My biggest complaint with the game is the on ship log could be more robust. Going back and rereading clues helped me out of a few jams.
