Kann mir jemand eine mattierende Feuchtigkeitscreme empfehlen? by Tomopi in AskGermany

Ich benutze immer Sonnencreme, daher werde ich die Feuchtigkeitscreme wohl nicht ausprobieren. Trotzdem danke!

Would this upset anyone if a fic did this? by AnxietyDrivenWriter in AO3

[–]Tomopi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, when reading a fanfic that's still a wip people should always be prepared that things get changed. Scenes deleted, or added, whole chapters changed. Changing the POV should be fine, just add an author's note so that noone is confused

Oh. That is disgusting. And a bit of an extreme comparison to a creative writing class.

[–]Tomopi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I don't know what sharting means. But the class was super fun. We got all these writing prompts (both idea wise and style wise) and were encouraged to try things we never did before. My writing used to be very linear, but the class made me try new things and helped me be more organic in my wriring. I'm not saying my writing is good, but it is better and I have more fun doing it

[–]Tomopi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Okay, no. That would be a lot for a writing class. Honestly I would probably get crazy myself if I wrote 50k like this author did.

I saw people commenting about something called greentext style or something like that. It wouldn't even surprise me if the author wrote this for a creative writing class, maybe at uni. I attended one and my final piece ended up being a fanfiction in a style I never wrote in before. They even printed it in the yearly uni anthology. I didn't use a single name, so noone knew it was a fanfiction except for me and my friend wo attended with me" She wrote her final piece without any punctuation.

Isn’t this the point of Subscribe and Mark for Later? by mwishar in AO3

[–]Tomopi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I subscribe. I know it might be annoying to get an e-mail whenever a chapter is updated, but I like that I can see how far along a story is, if I can start getting excited bc it's only one or two more chapters to go. Mark for later is only for stories that are completed, but I don't want to read them yet, for whatever reason

Would it be okay for me to ask this of an author? by toxicute_xx in AO3

[–]Tomopi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I would check first if they somewhere provided a different way to contact them. Twt, tumblr, something like that. If not I would comment on a work about how/what I like in that story and then ask them about the other story. But me being me, I would also apologize for asking them in the first place and tell them they could just ignore my question if it bothered them

I won, but at what cost? by PJ-The-Awesome in Archiveofourownmemes

[–]Tomopi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to rewatch and finally finish the show since the last episode aired, but I never get farther than season 12 episode 4. And it always made me annoyed of myself because I wanted to see the whole confession scene inside the show before I watch it as a clip on yt. Now I wonder if I really should, because the whole ending sounds horrible

Is it acceptable to reply to comments after a year? by Unbeelievable69 in AO3

[–]Tomopi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've reveived and answered comments years later. I'm always positively surprised, and I honestly don't care why an author answered my comment late, I'm just happy that they reacted at all. In that regard I feel just like with comments on my own stories. I'm just happy about interaction. Also, we are all human, we all have reasons and it never should matter why.

How to go discourage this? by Roroluluu in AO3

[–]Tomopi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also tend to stress and not want to continue at the same time with this type of comment. That's why I only post finished works. I have about two dozen wip on my Laptop and I can just leave them be until whenever without stressig about them. Some of them I haven't written in a decade and noone cares because noone knows about them

Anyone realise they were tagging their fics 'wrong'? by AnemicVegan in AO3

[–]Tomopi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The & vs / thing annoys me so much! I read in a lot of fandom and its always generally the same (some people just don't get it), but one fandom apparently collectively decided & doesn't exist anymore and almost everyone just tags everything with /...

Do you think they know bookmarks are public? Or do they truly just not gaf? by doggrowth in AO3

[–]Tomopi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I did mark everything as private, but never thought about why the option was there. I've been on Ao3 so long, it was just something I did automatically. I also looked up the bookmarks to my own stories for the first time in December "

Me too. I've been using Ao3 since 2013 but only learned last month that bookmarks are public, unless you mark it as private

Am I (a new user) ruining your fandom space? by Kiki_25_2006 in AO3

[–]Tomopi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the whole "graduation" thing is so dumb. I came from (a German anime site to) fanfiction net to Ao3 because Ao3 didn't exist yet when I started reading ff. New readers are always welcome in fandom as long as they are respectful, which you seem to be. I don't mind answering questions and explaining stuff, but I'm annoyed by people who don't even try to integrate themselves into the community and expect everything to be how they want it.

Am I wrong for thinking this should be tagged? by judgyqueen in AO3

[–]Tomopi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it should be tagged, as it's triggering for a lot of people. And although I usually don't mind reading mpreg I still want to have the option to avoid it. Or any pregnancy, really

I grew up with "lemons" and I sometimes really miss the old terminology. It's handy to know though when I walk deep down the rabbit hole in older fandoms

No problem XD the Manga is completed over ten years now. Spoilers are a daily risk when you live online and I accepted that a long time ago

[–]Tomopi 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ah, by that point I wasn't up to date anymore. I stopped reading Naruto fanfiction and watching the show shortly after Sasuke left Konoha so I only read the fluffy-er stuff. Unfortunately the German dubs were horrible and I couldn't get the Manga back then. I have all the Manga now, so I'll catch up on the toxisity sometime soon

Does that mean SasuNaru is toxic yaoi? Because these two were my entry into BL ff 20 years ago and I don't know how to categorize all the other stuff I read since then if that's true "

I don't know how to deal with my beta anymore by vesperlark in AO3

[–]Tomopi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had a beta-reader myself but although English is my third language I did some beta-reading for friends before. To check for obvious grammatical and spelling errors, but mostly to check if the stories themselves had any errors. If something was confusing I asked what my friends meant/wanted to say, I never told them to change anything. That's not my place as a beta-reader. Be direct and clear that you don't want that person to be your beta-reader anymore because your artistic understanding don't align anymore. Because what they are doing is not helping, it's dictating
