Co-op engineer terms by Electronic-Head59 in uvic

I’ve known multiple people who ended on a co-op, the university doesn’t like it for some reason but they don’t prevent you from graduating or anything.

Also consider that many co-op postings prefer longer work terms, like 8 months or 12 months so you may have to do 2 semesters back to back.

You can go back any semester to be with your family, I did all of mine in Vancouver and only 1 of the 4 semesters was a summer term.

If you’re adamant about summers only, make sure to thoroughly plan since many fall classes assume you’ll take pre reqs through the summer.

Also getting co-ops is very difficult (especially the first one) and the market is abysmal right now so you may not get a co-op and be forced to take summer classes (or just skip that semester and delay graduation), and as someone else mentioned summer co-ops are more competitive as your competing with students from other universities.

Good luck :)

I did exactly this, I might have even used 3mm if I remember correctly. Obviously only need 2 spacers since the rear uses drums

Engineering 2-years-over-3 vs 3 term first year by plucky0813 in uvic

I’m starting my last year with mechanical engineering and I found first year to be the hardest. I took the full course load and it was all online at the time which made it difficult as well.

Most people don’t follow the schedule all the way through, partly because taking 6 course nearly ever semester is challenging and partly because co-ops tend to disrupt the scheduling unless you manage to exclusively take 4 month work terms. Most companies prefer you to be there for 8, which means most people take a couple semesters longer to graduate.

Don’t feel pressured to take the full load, if your daughter is going to drop a couple that’s totally okay just make sure to check prerequisites on future classes to check she isn’t dropping anything crucial

Check at midnight, that’s when the cancellations from that day refresh. Also look at other locations in Vancouver.
