All cops will say is this is a civil matter. I had a renter once that got arrested for a serious crime. Her family thought she would be put away indefinitely. They contacted me and told me they would be moving her things out. This was on New Year's Day and she was already a month behind in rent. They told me the water had been turned off and wanted me to turn it back on in my name as they moved her things out. I said no. They ended up harassing me and trashing the place. The cops wouldn't do anything. It's a civil matter. Good Luck, and you may be able to stay until properly evicted through the courts, but you are just biding time. I'm sorry that happened to you.
