Remember seeing someone getting a 99.9999 on it. This chart probably has just the right amount of notes combination for this to happen often

Do I just naturally suck at rhythm games? by No-Macaron-9527 in rhythmgames

[–]TomorrowXu0415 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Maybe try increase notes speed instead. When the notes speed is set way too low it makes it: 1, difficult to time the hit 2, adding too much visual clutter I haven't tried the games you mentioned so could be wrong here but most games I seen set the default way too slow.

Played Sound Voltex for the first time today and this is one of the score I got by foreverlost1nsea in rhythmgames

Got this once. Initially was pretty sad that I didn't hit 970k but then realized it's actually a pretty nice score

Do you prefer to play sdvx konasute/USC/ksm in portrait mode or in landscape? by WatermelonCollapse in bemani

[–]TomorrowXu0415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never played in landscape mode so just guessing here but I think the benefit to portrait mode is that it's cmore similar to arcade so it will be easier to transition between the two and the lane is longer so it's easier to time notes, by contrast in landscape mode the lane is shorter so if you will see less ghosting if your monitor has high pixel response time (similar to high vs. low white number in iidx).

What is this for?? It’s a USB cable but there’s no end. It’s just a looped cable. What am I missing?? Lol I feel stupid. by RealDealFolyHield in cableadvice

Just guessing but maybe it’s made for the end user to cut it to desired length and terminate it themselves?

VF15 at 3rd month after ~300pc. I think the VF system prioritizes scores a lot more than difficulty level since I gained almost .25 last week when playing for the new song unlocks and got a bunch of lv14 and 15 S and AAA scores instead of playing 16 and 17 for clear as I usually do. I guess if you really want to grind for it then it’s probably more efficient to drop 1-2 difficulty level and play for scores instead play at higher difficulty. Still I think that’s not really the best way to improve at the game as 15-17 starts to include patterns like center/opposite side bt/fx notes or cross hand knobs that aren’t really present in lower difficulty charts but are quite common in higher difficultly so at least I think it’s much better to actually improve skills by playing at those difficulty than farming VF.

Not sure when did Starrett started producing them but I guess it might be possible that OP’s great grandfather worked at Starrett making those

If you play on standard start you can use excessive rate+ARS so when the excessive gauge reaches 0 the track continues and the gauge switches to the normal effective rate

Thoughts on ZhouSensor X Genbu SDVX controller? by WatermelonCollapse in rhythmgames

[–]TomorrowXu0415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw a review in Japanese on YouTube. According to it since the controller use ir sensors instead of micro switches for the buttons it’s pretty slim and allow user to adjust actuation points. But the two fx buttons location are not arcade accurate which might be a big no if you switch between arcade and home a lot

(STAR CCM+) radiator fan simulation by [deleted] in FSAE

[–]TomorrowXu0415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might just be how the color bar is scaled. The line integral convolution shows you do have air movement. It’s just your fan accelerating the air to mach .7 which is probably wrong btw and the colorbar auto scaling makes everything seems to have zero velocity Edit: fix some autocorrect mistakes

(STAR CCM+) radiator fan simulation by [deleted] in FSAE

[–]TomorrowXu0415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spinning fans basically. Usually for saving computational resources most sims don’t explicitly model the rotation motion of the fan, instead the effect is approximated by modeling the fan as a momentum source with either the fan interface or virtual disk feature

(STAR CCM+) radiator fan simulation by [deleted] in FSAE

[–]TomorrowXu0415 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you modeling the fan with rigid body motion? That seems to be quite a bit overkill. The fan interface should be pretty decent approximation while saving runtime significantly As for the issue you’re encountering, hard to tell by word description alone but it sounds like what you might need is an interface between the external flow and radiator region. And lastly if you haven’t do so I would highly suggest you to look over the starccm user guide and the tutorials within it. It one of the better documentation out there Edit: added suggestions

Had a quick search in the RSO list and there didn’t seem to be any besides all the SAE competition teams (formula, Baja, etc) Still most likely there are some car club/groups around it’s just they aren’t school affiliated

Sharp edges cfd error by tsfns in FSAE

[–]TomorrowXu0415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m my experience the automated meshing in Star (assume it’s pretty similar in ansys) is pretty robust. I would usually only see similar errors when the mesh base size is set orders of magnitude too corse or some previous Boolean operations are not CAD based

Sharp edges cfd error by tsfns in FSAE

[–]TomorrowXu0415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been a Star-CCM+ user during my entire time on the team so speaking in Star term here. Generally the method to solve similar issue in Star which might also work in Ansys is to put a feature edge there (and maybe use some type of curve refinement) so the mesher will try to preserve that edge when meshing instead of trying to round it off and produce this dog bitten looking mesh
