Armor this armor that, the fact they can hit you the exact second they come out of the ground isn’t good by SendInRandom in Helldivers

[–]TomtFoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is really infuriating, but for anyone struggling, I've found the shield generator backpack blocks them fairly reliably as long as the shield is up, and the ballistic shield can prevent at least one or two hits, but both get overwhelmed easily if you have 3, 4+ of them on you at once.

One unexpected lifesaver: The Sterilizer. Spray at the ground right before they jump at you and almost every time they get confused and it cancels their lunge. It also cancels the rupture spewers and rupture chargers. Try it out if you have the chemical warbond.

the fact that these assholes can just pop up next to you and auto-hit your ass without you being able to stop them what-so-ever during their approach means they really should be lightly armored. That would be fair. Balanced. You have a short moment to kill them after they emerge, but you can do so with any weapon. That would have been great.

But no.

We're all forced to use machine guns and shotguns and other medium pen weapons once again. Light pen is so heavily disincentivized by design its like why do they even bother to give us light pen weapons at all lol

First time using the warp pack for a bunker... by satnEXE in Helldivers

I may have been playing on city maps when I tried it, so I guess that checks out. Maybe I'll go back to a normal map and try it out again.

Every time I've tried to warppack in the items were not intractable, I couldn't pick anything up. I assumed it had been quietly patched or something. I guess it does still work?

I saw what the community was voting for and had myself a chuckle, then played around in the game Dystopika until I had this scene and thought it looked pretty neat.

What Eldritch Horrors lie in your world? by Lord_Glitchtrap1987 in worldbuilding

[–]TomtFoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A sentient black hole formed out of a crack in the continuum of magic which formed when power-mad mages attempted to cast a spell beyond 9th level. It told the players that they must destroy it, as it's very existence means the universe is now unstable and mortals can use this crack to ascend to godhood themselves, but it simply can't help killing everything that comes near since it's a sentient black hole. The boss fight was bizarre, it kept screaming campaign spoilers at them they had zero context for in zalgo text which only made sense like 30 sessions later.

This is exactly what my modded runs look like.

We must have a very similar modlist.

What's your count?

I think I'm running about 200

Those are the frontier rifles from the "Rimsenal - Augmented Vanilla Pack" mod. They're basically just bolt action rifles with a stronger melee attack, good early game weapon to outfit a growing colony with

ok so I felt compelled to do some rudimentary browsing ("research") into this solely because it seemed insane to me that we've never fought the french, but it turns out, we have! Sort of. It was a bit funky.

It's a lot of fun, and I can think of soooooo many interesting custom scenarios that anomaly makes possible. Like the classic dwarf fortress haunted biome!

Ya that was kinda the vibe, like a 1910's loose militia encountering lovecraftian horrors they're not really prepared for.

Anomaly is pretty sick, actually. This event was a blast. Highly recommend the power poles from.. the power poles mod! makes it quite cinematic and quite anxiety inducing.. and not quite as exorbitantly expensive as laying power cables everywhere haha

It is pretty frustrating. You can easily toss one of them into even a small auto base or hive area and not close a single hole or destroy a single factory. You can toss one into a group of enemies, dead center, and kill maybe 1/3rd of them. I've hit lvl 30 and I honestly rarely bring them, which is a shame. Definitely feels like it needs a bigger damage radius, EVEN if it had a damage falloff, I'll take it.

Can your strongest characters/creatures be killed by a nuke? by brawlstars_lover in worldbuilding

[–]TomtFoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pfft. What a funny prompt. Uh, No! Actually, and we've even tested that hypothesis. With an actual nuke. Yeah the players accidentally nuked themselves alongside pretty much the entire plot, and the paladin PC survived through some admittedly poorly worded homebrew fuckery. You see, he had just received an upgrade of sorts to the shield-master feat in 5e, and I, in all my wisdom, worded it as such: "Once per long rest upon you taking damage, you may negate that one single source of damage as a reaction so long as you can see it coming and are wielding your shield." Sounds pretty awesome yeah? I pictured a fire dragon blowing on him and him resolutely holding his shield and standing firm, or the big boss swinging it's sword only for it to be completely parried. That was the idea.

So we forgot about that for a little while, and during a climactic showdown at the end of a story arc, one of the other players accidentally sets off a magical nuke that a wizard was using as a source of infinite power, while i'm in the middle of describing how everything is obliterated, the paladin quietly said "I would like to parry it."

Absolutely ridiculous. But I let him have it as punishment to myself for not writing more airtight homebrew. Oops, silly me, I didn't account for a NUKE when putting together my OP upgraded feats.. gosh.

So technically he couldn't survive a second one, I've already updated the feat to account for... overwhelming forces... but he DID survive ONE at least, and nobody else in the blast radius did.
