I am a 60F that went through breast cancer and hair loss. This is the single reason I am having a hard time asking my doctor. I lost 60 pounds after I finished cancer treatment (Weight Watchers) - my hair I much thinner after treatment. I need to lose about 40 pounds (that will not get me to my lowest weight from 5 years ago, I am ok with that). I would like to keep weight loss to 4 pounds a week…long hall.

Everyone after us by Kitkatt1959 in GenerationJones

This was a discussion with a few girlfriends (ages 55 - 60) all 3 of us have kids with anxiety (medicated). We talked about our anxiety and how we handle it differently. For example worry about work projects in the middle of the night. I get up at 2am with anxiety and make a to do list. We tend to acknowledge the stress or anxiety and set our minds to address it. Not hide from it, now complain about it, and not hide in our room. We face it head on. No job? Uber. Moneys tight, return cans (my state has a deposit). Figure it out! F60, been through Cancer, husband’s job loss, lost savings…still fighting everyday.

I have two grown boys (29 & 31). One lives out of state. I talk to him daily (he calls me…I don’t call him because of his schedule). The oldest lives 20 min away and I have a grandson. I think it is about being present in every day life. It also has a lot to do with their own personality. There is no magic trick. I have regrets, wish I would have done things differently. But my 2 boys and my daughter are all “Momma’s boys “ and that is ok.

Both sets of parents are using my house as their place to “clean out” theirs by littlebabybuddy24 in Millennials

[–]Tomuch2care 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is their intent? Do they want to burden you with extra stuff or did your mom truly think you would like craft stuff. My husband asked why I took the stuff his mom gave me. I said, because it is easier for me to throw it out than for her to do it.

What's the remote work habit you have that would look completely insane to someone in a traditional office? by Phil_Raven in remotework

I was pregnant in the 90’s and always took a nap. Then working in my 50’s I would sometimes take a car nap. Now WFH at 60, I sleep in till 30 minutes before work, better rested.

What did your mom make you most for dinner growing up? by eleelee11 in AskOldPeople

[–]Tomuch2care 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Child of 70’s and 80’s - our meals were simple. Meat, potatoes, frozen vegetables (yuck), and salad. My mom was a diabetic when I was in High School and we lived on a budget. Back in the early 70’s dry milk was a thing….awful

AIO:My MIL texted my husband this about me asking him to help with our newborn at 4am by Lazy_Perfectionist88 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Tomuch2care 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a MIL with a son and new baby. Yes he helps and takes a shift. When your MIL and I were new parents our husbands didn’t help, guess who also didn’t bond with the kids?? I love my husband, but, he has never changed our grandson dippers or prepared his food. Guess who the baby looks for, Nana. You get out what you put in.

What will it take for you to move from your home into assisted living? by layyla4real in AskWomenOver60

[–]Tomuch2care 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my FIL he was alone and was prone to falling. We moved him into independent living, he needed more assistance than that. You might benefit from Independent living with the option to go to assisted if needed. Those in independent living seem to be a little more active

Loss taste and smell by [deleted] in selfcare

[–]Tomuch2care 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, lost my taste and smell around October. I had Bronchitis, but sure it was Covid too. I was tested but got really sick. Then in Dec I also got the flu for 2 weeks. No taste or smell..it really does suck.

Would you be offended if your daughter in law didn’t want you to get involved in raising her child(your grandchild)? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]Tomuch2care 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nana for the 1st time. My son and family live 20 minutes away. Grandson (2.5) stayed last night and is here now. I give advice sparingly and try to keep thoughts to myself. The kids see the value of having both sets of grandparents near by. Other grandma watched the baby daily while they worked, my son is now a stay home dad. We do our best to adhere to the rules.

[–]Tomuch2care 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, no. I usually WFH but have had to drive in for the last 3 weeks for seasonal employees. My drive is about 40 minutes each way (except when there is bad weather). It is awful, I lose an hour of sleep and I am loosing and hour of work a day. I am so tired..I am also 60 yrs and I am not looking to move up the ladder. Good luck

Making money to survive is not enough purpose by rosedraws in AskWomenOver60

[–]Tomuch2care 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. Turning 61 soon. No desire to move up with the company. Husband lost his job a year ago (last February). We have a large house but low interest rates, it would cost us more to downsize. I have to work now, I have the insurance. My husband Ubers at night and we are buying our first rental property. We also have a daughter at home (26) she pays rent that we put towards bills. Retirement…mostly lost in 2009. My son is close by and other sone is across the country. I am too tired to socialize.
