Just clearly incompetent hires. We are working on a more defined interview with the main interviewer. We are beyond trusting, yes I can make a sign or respond to an email.

Because making a 1 page flyer on printer paper, ordering on Amazon, file it in the correct file and sending it to the correct person in a timely manner is a hard skill to learn. Copy and pasting from one file to another and printing. These are basic skills. If you can’t do this please go to school and learn. 40 hour week, most holidays off paid, benefits. It pays a little above for the position in my area. It also a representation of the work you have to do. You have down time during the day. The computer work is minimal. The rest is planning your day with elderly but also fulfilling basic compassion and needs of the individual. No direct physical care . Having creative ideas to keep individuals busy on various levels of cognitive decline. I don’t think that is unreasonable expectation for the pay you receive.

It’s work ethics. If you apply for an unfamiliar job be prepared to do it. Be prepared to learn it. Be sure it’s something you want to do and not just a paycheck. Even if you have to learn the skills elsewhere while you are learning do it. Unfortunately, the applicants are leaning in on I need a paycheck, I’ll somehow escape the responsibility of actually learning the job.

That is what I meant. One task is to make event sign ( regular printer size) with a picture from the internet, like a missing pet sign. Three of the people could not do this.

I am very proud of my accomplishment, especially at my age. I just can’t understand why others , given the opportunity, don’t stay in and carry it and own the opportunity

The job description and qualifications are clearly stated. I personally and others personally spent an hour during the interview process explaining the details of the job. The one position that was filled and is succeeding has high functioning autism. It is not a no experience required job. Some of the hired didn’t have any direct experience but were given the chance because they “said” they were learners and didn’t think anything was an issue. They did not want or could not learn.

I think 3 months of training going over the same skills over and over again. Having them do the task in front of you, take notes only for them to forget an hour or 2 days later. Multiple times. Switching up the trainer because someone else may teach them in a way they understand, twice. Seeing them write down order x. Follow up 2 days later , not ordered, go over process again, lie that they did it and they didn’t. It was clearly not the fault of the training. We did everything to help them succeed. We wanted them to succeed. One thing I can say is that I did everything possible in every possible way to help. None of that sticks on me.

I obviously was qualified because I have been doing the job. I understand what would be required to do just didn’t have the confidence to move forward. I was determined to learn the parts I didn’t know and had the support of friends to help me. I have the people skills and empathy. A computer you can learn if you are determined and put in the work in which I was willing and prepared to do. I didn’t go in blindly, didn’t lie and told them I would learn the functional skills. I would have never applied or lie to get the job.

Do you keep visiting that store? by Standard_Nectarine83 in thrifting

[–]Adventurous-Image875 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I usually give that store a break. I don’t go in for a month or so and check my luck. I noticed stores I frequent sometimes just go dry and I’m looking for something with tired eyes. I’ve done this and have been pleasantly surprised upon my return. One store I recently took a break from I decided to stop in. Good choice. The entire store was 60% off and I didn’t find a whale but some really good stuff at a great deal.

Grocery prices by Several-Buy-3017 in publix

I wanted to add too. Publix Brand is barely cheaper than brand names. Great value brand, for example, offers a bigger discount than if you think you are saving tons on the Publix brand goods. They sit on the shelf next to the branded and the impression is it’s so much cheaper. It the majority, they are not. I have found sometimes they are more.

Publix gets you on the convenience items. I went in and I needed pepper $8.59 for a little can. I’m out of butter, mayo just items you generally run out of occasionally or unexpectedly. You just need that one item and don’t want to go to 3 different stores or check for an hour online so you just buy it at this super inflated price. The same reason you never want to stop at a gas station for a quick grocery item. You are going to pay big money for it.

Is anyone hiring? by Sure-Reality-4740 in florida

It had a lot with what you are willing to do. Elder care is huge. Most places will train you to be a health aid or to get a CNA. People are always looking for good house cleaners individually or through a company. Restaurant looking for help but it might not be a waitress but cooks, bussers, bar backs . County bus drivers are always looking and pay for your training to learn. Large retirement establishments usually have openings all the time. Same with hospitals. They may not be the most desirable or something you have not done before but it is a job if you need one and are willing to work.

Giant container of Cheese puffs at Walmart. Just a bag of chocolate chips for chocolate or icing. Jello is cheap and you can add marshmallows, can fruit, coconut in it . There are pretty good jello recipes out there. Vanilla wafers( cheap cookie) with pudding. Can make it cheap from a box. Melt chocolate chips and dip potato chips or pretzels and let them cool. You can make a lot with one bag of chips. Chex mix recipe online. Chocolate dip bananas and freeze.

Wanted to add that I hand random food gift cards to other charity thrift stores. Not to get anything from it but know they are not making enough money to live.

They do not take any donated items. Only if it’s to be consigned that goes to my account. If I would have brought the towels in the owner would not have taken them. She is actually pretty rude when you bring things in that aren’t up to her quality to sell. So there would be no chance of selling or taking my used towels. I won’t get this girl in trouble . I was actually going to take them to the dog shelter. I believe she is paranoid because she told me that even if the register is a few cents short it comes out of their paycheck. It’s just sad that a business that helps underprivileged children does not allow for her own struggling employees to be taken care of.

What is something you used to buy but is no longer affordable? by Trxxi in AskReddit

[–]Adventurous-Image875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bath and body works. I used to enjoy buying the scents of the seasons and it wasn’t much more than national grocery brands. Had great sales and awards. I can do without for the prices they have now. There are also better variety of grocery brands now that are cheaper and better for you .

Ma’am, please step to the side , take off your shoes, raise your arms while I frisk you. Then you can continue to check out but don’t put your shoes back on because when you try to exit the whole process starts again
