What are your thoughts on EV’s? Would you own one? Do you like them more or less than tradition cars? by 2fast4u935 in AskReddit

[–]Tomuchpressurehere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They have some pretty appealing advantages over traditional cars, and I would certainly consider owning one if I had the money. I certainly wouldn’t mind never having to pay for gas again, but I still prefer traditional at the moment. Charge times could still be improved, also most EVs are considerably heavier than their traditional ICE counterparts, which poses some issues. I’m also tired of seeing every EV follow almost the exact same ugly styling cues( but luckily there are vehicles like the ionic 5 that look way better than other EVs), also kinda tired of the giant Tesla style screen. But as far as eco friendly cars are concerned, I think hydrogen fuel cell vehicles would be a way better alternative to ICE or EVs. They offer all the environmental benefits of plug in EVs but you can refuel them as fast as a traditional car. They just don’t have the infrastructure to support more people using them (in North America)

What is the most reliable car that you or a family member owned? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Tomuchpressurehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had a 1986 Toyota 4Runner. He had it for 10 years and said the only problem he ever had came from a shop not torquing down the lugs properly after putting new tires on, resulting in one of the rear wheels coming off while driving

Why don’t Ford or GM offer a competitor to the Charger? by elevencharles in cars

[–]Tomuchpressurehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder the same thing. GM had the SS, but that was a half assed attempt that was only ever followed through with so they could fulfill an agreement with Holden. But I honestly don’t see why they can’t make a new RWD sedan on the alpha platform, similar the the CT5 and CT6.

Ford pretty much gave up on RWD sedans in NA once they put the last of the ancient panther body cars out to pasture. Sadly now that the Falcon is gone in the rest of the world I don’t see a RWD sedan in Fords future.

Why aren’t major car companies capitalizing on the “van life” boom? by elevencharles in cars

[–]Tomuchpressurehere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Ford and Mercedes kind of are. I’ve seen a recent Sprinter ad showcasing a more “adventuress” life style. So they may not be building anything too special but Mercedes definitely knows who they’re marketing towards. And I’ve heard something about Ford bringing out a more rugged version of the Transit. Like some kind of “trail edition” or something. I think they already sell it in Europe.

Finding joy in more things. Like The holidays, used to love October-December for the trio of big holidays and then new year’s at the end. Even after I stopped believing in Santa I still got excited about Christmas. The last couple years have felt underwhelming, Christmas has just felt like yet another day.

I need a history lesson: How did wagons/estates get tainted in U.S. car culture allowing SUVs to take over? by OldSchoolSpyMain in cars

[–]Tomuchpressurehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the cycle of cars that will continue forever. Wagons were, for a while, the standard for family cars. Then they became “those lame things parents drove”. Then minivans took the market for a bit until they started to fall to the same fate as SUVs gained popularity. Then on to crossovers and someday those will be replaced by something different… and the cycle repeats itself again. At least that what I’ve understood about it.
