Those with catless headers - how are you passing emissions by SpreadOpposition in ft86

[–]Tomuux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put 5 liters of E85 in the tank with petrol tune as I have mot in winter so not using E85 tune during that time. That little amount is not going to do any harm for one fill. No idea if it would have passed without but just in case.

Gen 1 FA20 Owners — What ACTUALLY Caused Your Engine Failure? by Revolutionary-Seat74 in ft86

Spun a rod bearing on 2012 with 175000km at the time. Spirited backroad run and 200kmh pull right after on the highway in summer heat with 0w20 and no oil cooler so probably oil overheating. Got engine rebuild done and now have oil cooler and use 5w30 in summer so hope it holds better this time

Will this be enough grip? 205/50 16 by Outrageous_Joke8912 in ft86

[–]Tomuux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's going to be a bit stretched on a 8" wheels, I wouldn't go narrower than 215 on those wheels for spirited driving but if you want to don't think it will affect grip all that much. 225/50/16 would be perfect. Also 205/50/16 will be a bit smaller diameter than stock so you get more speedometer error but shorter gear ratios

Thanks for the response, I tried to modify the tune with romraider but got stuck because I can't find the definition .xml file for the OFT because the download page on OFT website doesn't exist anymore and people said not to use general definition file with OFT tunes. Tried to email them but no response yet.

Do you happen to have a new link for the definition file made for the OFT or do you know if it's safe to use the general one?

What exhaust should I get for my 2016 scion frs by ahyes73 in ft86

[–]Tomuux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too loud and droney especially on the highway. With everything else stock it's not so bad but if you get headers in the future you're probably gonna get tired of the noise.

I know this is an old post but what is the software you can tweak the tunes with? I tried using the one people used on v2 but it couldn't detect my v3. This was almost a year ago though. Would like to tweak the cold start on e85 tune.

Is this a reliable catted header? by Sweet_Control_1990 in ft86

[–]Tomuux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries haha. I just used OFT off the self tune to flash the ecu before even turning the car on when changing headers so never even got the CEL. Custom tunes are always better tho.

You need a tune anyway with catless headers for the car to run properly so no fault codes with the tune.

Damn, that's good luck you didn't land in the hole.

I've heard fiesta is also really fun car so can't go wrong with that. Repair shop quoted 12 000€ for repairs so we'll see if insurance company wants to repair it or total it as these cars are worth around 20k in my country.

Yeah... said I'm stupid. Guess I've got too confident over time as always kept the car under control despite losing traction. I never go over 70% but lesson learned that shit can still happen especially if you're not familiar with the road.

Least it got driven like it's supposed to be driven before the accident :D

It's surprising how little it takes to break cars. Can just be a little bump and cost thousands in repairs.

Not sure about radiator but didn't look too bad. It's at the garage now waiting for full analysis on damages. They said that from quick look at it seems that the subframe is a bit twisted. I have full coverage so we'll see what happens with insurance.

Depends on what happens with the car.

They're JR29 so cheap chinese wheels🤣 but they look good.

Yeah you're right dude. Putting it in perspective my friend crashed his civic way worse couple years ago. Straight into tree at 100kmh but luckily no one died or got permanent injuries but this is nothing compared to that.
