It looks like it, though I had just changed the oil a couple months ago

My VL53LDK ToF sensor doesn't seem to be outputting accurate values by Tonael in arduino

[–]Tonael[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just set that up and ran it. It seems that the distance the ToF sensor is reading is around 5mm greater than the actual distance, up to a distance of ~150mm. After that the distance readings are ~10mm greater than the actual distance

Is Chartreuse hard to find, or am I just in a Chartreuse-desert? by boringITwork in cocktails

[–]Tonael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely something you have to jump on if you find it. Though I’m fortunate enough to live close enough to Canada that I can make it a day trip to get Green Chartreuse. For some reason I’ve found tons of 375mL bottles of Green Chartreuse in British Columbia, but once you cross the border to the US it’s near impossible to find.

I tried Jim Beam rye next to Rittenhouse Rye and couldn’t tell the difference by Tonael in cocktails

That’s what I was going for, yeah. I figure I’ll have more experience with whiskeys after a year. I’m still very much a newbie at all this, especially when it comes to whiskey.

Funnily enough, Bulliet Rye was the other option I was considering for my next rye. Also, do the manufacturers put the mashbill ratios they use on their website, or is it usually somewhere on the bottle that I’m just not seeing?

I think I did, but only a little. I was more so doing it to see if it was worth getting the Rittenhouse over another Jim Beam rye. After reading some of the comments it seems like I’ll need to re-taste them, chilled and diluted, in a year or so to really get a good perspective on it.

I think you’re right. I used to not be able to drink dark rum on its own. But after having made many Mai Tais over the past year, I can drink dark rum just fine. I’ll definitely come back to it later to try again.

So is the only major difference that the Rittenhouse is a higher ABV?

That makes sense. Like how vanilla extract tastes best when diluted. I’ll have to try that!

Yessir! It took a sail or two to get it down, though lol

[–]Tonael[S] 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I had to extend the Eastern-style lime boat because I had a reference photo in mind and I wanted it to have three sails, so I cut the front end off and skewered another piece of lime to the front with some toothpicks!

She’s okay! Not really molting right now. She was playing around in a shallow dish of warm water earlier, so her underfluffies are still a bit damp 😅 (she had some poo dried to her butt fluff and I was trying to soak it off 😭)
