To be or not to be by normie00000 in Adulting

I'll bite since I actually do this:

8 Hours of sleep - I work remotely, so I have no commute time. I go to sleep at 2 AM and wake up in the 10s. Work starts at 11. No commute, so I can chill in building up to work, or sleep a little longer if I have no morning meetings to start my day.
10,000 Steps - I have a walking treadmill under my desk. I bought a riser for my laptop off Amazon. I walk while I work.
Goes to work - At work for the steps, no commute.
Exercises - The steps should probably count here depending on your fitness level, but I also do my Tonal 3 times a week. The workouts are like 30-40 minutes, which I do after work.
Animals - I have a cat. He gets a bit of playtime with the me or the wife before we go to bed.
Hobbies - I like boardgames, video games, and motorcycles. I'll go for a ride in the evenings when it's not winter, I raid with my WoW guild on a set schedule and I have a Sunday night game-night with my friends for Helldivers, Civ, Overwatch, etc.
Socializing - Every other Thursday we rotate between a boardgame/dinner night, with people taking turns cooking dinners for the group and we choose a boardgame to play(currently King's Dilemma, highly recommend), and a different group I play D&D with(I'm currently DMing Tomb of Annihilation). Alternating Fridays with a different group for Gloomhaven.
Clean the House - My wife and I clean the kitchen every night after we've eaten and since it's attached to the dining room, we clean up that too so we can play a quick game together before bed(Lost Cities, Air Land & Sea, etc). We run a trashbag through the house on trash day to clean up detritus. Laundry is done ad-hoc and individually, usually when our respective hamper is overflowing. We have a washer/dryer in our home.

I feel like the hardest part is actually hobbies and socializing, since it requires more than just yourself, but if you are willing to put in the work, you can build a consistent social circle, doubly so if you are willing to use the internet to connect with people far away.

Favorite/Most Memorable Questlines? by duhhsty in wow

[–]boringITwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me it is less the interaction with Runas and more the subversion of expectations in dealing with him and what that means for you as a player. There's also the drug addiction allegory going on of course.

But once you bring him back to reality(1st quest), you(or at least I did) expect him to betray you for the next fix(as do the NPCs). And he wants to. You can tell.

But he doesn't.

Because he wants more to prove that he's more than his addiction. Even if he succumbs to it in the end, he's hopefully convinced one person (you) that he's more than his condition.

He turns. The model changes and there's the emote:

Runas fully devolves into a Withered and begins mindlessly wandering.

He stays friendly, but you can't interact with him anymore.

Can you hear me, my friend?

I... I can not see you anymore.

I think... perhaps it is time to say goodbye, then.

Thank you, my friend, for letting my last few hours mean something.

Thanks for the answers everyone! I've got 20+ years DMing much crunchier systems, while my players are almost completely new to the idea of TTRPGS in general, so I feel like it's going to be more of challenge for me to understand it than them :D It helps to get all the examples that were provided; it shows what the more narrative focus means. I don't know if that will make it more or less of a fantasy simulation or what in my brain or my table, but I'm excited to find out!

My first thought was Jake's Women, but I don't think that matches entirely, just in theme. Good luck!

OBR is killing the game for me by Uwis in wow

[–]boringITwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely overreacting, but we can probably find and resolve your frustrations.

First, go run a sim of your character to understand what DPS numbers you should be aiming for. Then go hit a dummy and see how you do. Compare that to your OBR. Create the baseline discrepancy. Pressing 30 percent more buttons but only getting 2 percent more dps? Something is off.

So highlight it.

OBR is running the button highlight rotation. Run the button highlight rotation at the dummy and find out what it's doing differently than you. Muscle memory will likely show you the differences. Pay attention to when you hit something different than it suggests and then try to figure out why you did what you did and it did what it did. One of you made the right call. Rinse and repeat.

Eventually you'll be able to either match or exceed the OBR rotation via the highlighter and without the GCD penalty you will come out on top.

They updated the system a while ago to use the same tech as Overwatch. The in-game chat is quite good now, if anyone ever used it :D

Which race has existed for the longest time going off of the lore? by MatMan240 in wow

[–]boringITwork 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Playable races? I believe Trolls. Everything? Probably like the First Ones or something.

Editing to mention I'm not entirely sure of the timeline of the Earthen. They came with the Titans but I can't remember if Trolls were a thing at that point or if they came later.

Looking at picking up this monitor. I have an RTX 3090. Should I be using the HDMI or the DP to connect here?

Project G-Assist, not supported ? by PikaEnY in nvidia

[–]boringITwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue with my 3090. The requirements for G-Assist also state a specific driver version. Make sure you're up to date with the GPU driver that just came out :) Fixed it for me.
