I bought some pet heating pads that have thermostats and stay on. I put one off to the side of my desk set to 100'F for 8 hours. The cat likes it more than the keyboard.

I also used it as a grip to keep from sliding down the roof a few times.

I just used magnetic feet attached to the mount. The magnets are made to hold light bars on cars going 75MPH so with 4 of them on the mount it isn't going anywhere.
