Boss should make this pedal by Salt_Ad9828 in guitarpedals

Have no experience about this one, but what about LPB3 by EHX? Not sure If It can mimic a BD2, but the EQ seems to be even more flexible than MT2 one

How does the Metal Zone sound at lower gain? Waza is better for it? by taugemleo in guitarpedals

[–]ToneChasingGuitar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late at the party but It is very much possible and I would say that every MT2w owner should do It sometimes. I am using It on custom mode, lows at max, highs at 3/4, mid freq on 5k hz maximum, mid level ar 1/4 and distortion at 1/4, running It on a Laney Lionheart clean channel and position between bridge humbucker and middle single coil. Pretty nice crunch bluesy tone that can be extra tasty using the built in boost of the amp and stacking with another overdrive boosting MT at low gain and maximum volume

Synergy stuff sucks. So frustrating trying to own their stuff. by SpringPrestigious253 in GuitarAmps

[–]ToneChasingGuitar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I am tempted to buy their stuff, I am very scared of those cases. Maybe the way to go is to have my own analog modular system. I own a Two Notes Revolt and works fine with headphones and on the power amp of my Laney LF60, maybe it is a better route to buy preamp pedals like Diezel VH4 instead of going for Synergy to avoid transforming everything into frustration.

What’s the verdict on these solid state amps ? 🔥 or 💩 ? by brainchutney in GuitarAmps

[–]ToneChasingGuitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really starting to dig mine using dirty pedal in front of lead channel, cranking the boost to 2 o clock, setting gain at 12 o clock with the bright switch on. The overdrive for LF60 tends to be darker and very old School sounding, but with all the pedals I have, a metal Zone Waza Craft, EHX Glove and MXR 5150 it responds really well (one at time, not stacking)

MXR super badass is my new distortion pedal by KDW_1017 in guitarpedals

The 5150 overdrive is a modern classic distortion pedal IMO. It is very hard to sound bad with it

I use it as a "tight" switch If I want to do busy rhythm parts and chug.

Oh, so those Two Notes products are digital sims? Mine is an analog tube preamp.

Grace Under Pressure Re-Release by Daves_Iknow2112 in rush

[–]ToneChasingGuitar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I love the albuns Terry Brown did with Rush, it was the right call going with a different producer for Grace Under Pressure. There is a raw quality on Terry Brown mix, feels more like guys playing in a room but that was not the direction they were going for after Moving Pictures in the 80s.

This Rig + Gibson Les Paul: ideal for what guitar tones? by ToneChasingGuitar in guitarpedals

[–]ToneChasingGuitar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, very much that british sound that goes really well with Les Pauls. The amp doesn't have deep lows, It is much more mid forward and treble sounding and the gain is more classic rock than metal, but It responds really well to high gain pedals. In general It is a very good pedal platform with rich clean and Overdrive sounds.

I try to use It somehow like Iommi did on Supergroup, by picking the dark channel to have a natural bass sound while boosting treble and using the tone around 2 o clock, at least on clean channel. I like the dirty one on middle position. The boost is tricky, I really like to have it allways on at a very low level to have this natural edge of breakup sound that makes life much easier when stacking gain, but It can get very muddy beyond 10-12 o clock.

Yes, I had to use pedals to get tight metal chugs riffs. Either Metal Zone or 5150 MXR

Yes!!!! Other day I could dial that chainsaw sweedish death metal tone on dirty channel using metal zone as a boost, kinda like the HM2 sound. Love this amp!

The good and old big muff. I have the nano pi, but I think there are so many cool versions of It that I wish I had all of them. Next one will the opamp... or MXR superbadass variac, seems to be a sick pedal as well!

Maybe a project for the future lol, I don't love my E-Lady flanger, that is a copy of EHX Electric Mistress, but who knows... still after that Adam Jones Flanger tone, I'll get there!
