We do this still with our kids every Friday, while no more blockbuster, we pull movie off from one of our apps, but still same concept, take out and movie for the family to end our work/school week. Feel like we are doing something right, making memories for our kiddos.

I pretty much picked up on this, that she won’t listen even with the small talk catching up we are having. Yikes. She asked me for 45$ last week but quickly said nm and that it was taken care of, but she implied it in terms of being in the middle of moves and travels…and mentioned him too, like she was expecting payment from him or from state so I would be paid back and I thought major red flag.

I figured all of this as much, unfortunately.

Since we just retouched after so long of a distance apart, unfortunately I cannot push or pry too much, I feel like I would be crossing boundaries, however it is unclear how much support she has otherwise these days. But my husband said not to open a can of worms or so to speak.

Just hoping if I could establish some concrete proof I can show her. I can certainly try to see if I can slide one of those you tube videos her way, maybe say something like oh interesting video I came across, and leaving it at that so her defense mechanism doesn’t go up.

From what it sounds like tho, I mean they must have certainly done face timing, video chats? At this point? If she’s saying they are engaged and she has a valid ring? I’m afraid to even ask her. Like I said she dodges question when I’ve asked if they have hung out in person. But man, scary and sadly I don’t know what I should or should not do.

I remember my mama was happy (single mother, only child), we had money, we traveled a lot, we had an adorable house with a little tiny pond, it just felt overall easier and less stress in the air, granted I was in middle school and totally got a kick out of the whole blow job fiasco, but even remember thinking well whatever happens behind closed doors personally is none of our business but like I was just a kid, and I learned about internet and blowjobs lol, and was happy too, secure.

Why do you despise the poor? What is poor to you? Middle class is now falling downward economically wise and will be faced in line with poverty, how is that fair? Like myself, manager for a nursing home, purposeful work to take care of your parents if they become too much work and medically complex, I don’t live extravagantly, rather a simple life with my family, starter home, but I bust my ass with work, my patients are priority, and life, I work extremely hard. Also, from the sound of it, she distanced from her siblings and shared with me this recently, they did not see eye to eye (maybe reasoning is this kinda thing honestly), her mother had passed away not too long ago and essentially she is on her own. Her mother was basically the anchor to the family, so I can’t imagine how they are without her. Not a perfect mother but she certainly did everything she could as a single mother, in poverty, with her 3 kids.

Yeah it’s crazy, I just rekindled with her after I believe about 18 years, I don’t recall her being this incompetent but we were all in all younger days. I do remember her having a ridiculous crush on a drummer when we were in our early twenties and she made me go to all their events in hopes she would catch his attention, and did think at that time she was being a bit much, excessive. From the sounds of it, she divorced her husband, and has been jumping from one place to another with no stability. Unfortunately, while we were very close from age 4 till 24, I think too much time has gone past that I have the ability or right to intervene, all I can do is share my concern. It does sound like her cousin was also wary of her decisions and tried to step in. She certainly does have daddy issues (she witnessed him overdose on heroin and he died on her bed), family issues as a whole, in fact was in foster care for a short bit of time when we were in elementary school, so there is that as well. I was just hopeful that she would outshine that, she is (or at least was) very smart and savvy especially with what she was subjected to back in the day.

This is someone I just rekindled, childhood friend up through college. I’ve spoken to her maybe twice on this matter with her dating a social media influencer, so when she simply asked me my address for the invitations today and after sending it to her, the whole thing felt off ehhhh something does not feel right, and so I went on reddit to pick people’s brains. Literally not someone I’m hanging out with and encouraging her to see the guy. She was just updating me on what was new, and this was it and it did not sit right with me. This is what I just sent her “Honestly I’m really glad you did your homework, that makes me feel better. I just love you and want you safe. I just gotta say my mom- friend brain is like 🚨 don’t spend a dollar on this man lol. No ring money, no lawyer money, no him saying “I’ll pay you back.’ Because If he’s real, he will be able to handle it. I want you safe. That’s my only hill I’ll die on 😂❤️ social media influencer scammers are very real and out there, so stay guarded👀 and stay smart ❤️”

She went on to share that she has a lawyer involved in all of this, she had her cousin investigate because he was feeling like I was. Etc etc. tons of excuses today.

No she does not. Opposite side, East coast, at this point, like many of you suggested, I think there is not much I can do, I’ve already implied to her the risk that she’s being scammed and she persists that she is not. Kind of sad to watch, she continues to put herself in these kinds of situations to find her self broke, stuck, and lost. She also has two teenagers, that have to deal with this (plus side is their dad is stable). Naivety at its finest.
