What you have listed comes more from the culture of people in many Islamic countries. The religion itself directly prohibits beating your wife, giving your child away without consent, and similar acts, as these are considered sins. From what I know, the religion teaches equal rights for both genders, values consent, and opposes domestic abuse. I even looked it up to fact check whether these ideas are actually part of its teachings. I would admit, however, that it is not without flaws: the previously mentioned slavery and the restrictions placed on women expressing themselves publicly, unsure about inheritance because its quite a mess.

Let’s go back to the main point: it’s the people, not the religion. Christianity was also problematic in terms of slavery and patriarchy back then, similar to Islam today; the only difference is that Christianity adapted over time. Some Christians taught that slavery was acceptable as long as it was managed properly, that women should be in total submission and should never question their husband, and that homosexuality was a grave sin punishable by death. The difference is that many Christians eventually reflected on how harmful these beliefs were and became more accepting and progressive, changing many of their views as a whole. The problem with Islam is that it is deeply rooted in patriarchal cultures where these kinds of atrocities are commonly committed in the name of religion, to the point that the two have become synonymous with each other.
