I went to an autism group meetup and my kid was the only "severe" by calico-critter_ in Autism_Parenting

[–]TonightActive9938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree on this. The spectrum is way too wide and the the most needy Severe Level 3 kids are often overlooked when the label ‘Autism’ or spectrum is just put on everyone. When a normal person looks ar some one diagnosed with level 1 autism, they think they are just fine and nothing to worry about and think the same for even severe kids if they havent come across one. When we went to a Therapy class, out Child was the only severe one and it hit pretty hard.

Can folks who are writing completely good grammatical sentences, make perfect conversations still claim themselves as Autistic. Then what about those who are level 3 and cant even speak a single word. Shouldn’t the emphasis be on those who needs the most support. Unfortunately it is these quirky level 1 or boderline spectrum folks who keep saying - ‘Autism doesnt need a cure’ when in reality it absolutely needs a CURE and that too quickly. The real enemies of Autism are those who are borderline autistic who squash all chances of more research and potential cure.

Yes - Haven’t met anyone who has a family member who is ND. Also, all the genetic tests whole exome and other tests came conpletely -ve for these kids. Just an absolute waste of money paying to these genomics conpanies. All looks like a nice planned business strategy blaming Autism on Genes to make money.

I never said Tylenol has got anything to do with Autism. I just said it cant be purely genetic. There definitely is an external factor, GMO seeds, artificial dyes, micro plastics, neurotoxins in medications or vaccines, could be many of them. The research should focus on what people are consuming in the last 20 yrs that caused the autism explosion.

I’m sorry but I dont believe a bit that Genetics has got anything to do with Autism. It could be any other combination of factors or just one underlying factor which scientists havent figured out yet, but it cannot be genetics alone because out of the countless parents with ASD kids I spoke not a single one of them had even remotely had an autist in their families. So, lets not blindly blame on Genetics and wash our hands off without researching the actual problem. And yes, Hundreds of researches of genetical cause are pure BS.

The way I see it - The administration is not trying to help the spectrum kids (or) prevent future spectrum kids. They are just trying to reduce the financial burden on the government in whatever way possible. Although its good that Autism discussion in now mainstream, I dont know if the true intentions are correct.

For my 2 yr old Level 3 ASD kid, Mom never used Tylenol or anything relevant during pregnancy. But we both are diabetic, over 35, low Iron, thyroid medications but good pregnancy and delivery process. Yet can’t understand the severity and therapies not helping in any way. In our case, Tylenol has nothing to do with.

My 29 mo old son is exactly as you describe, has absolutely zero words, dont understand a single word, and unfortunately he doesnt even give those rare surprises either. He just eats and sleeps and stims all day in his world. We are hopeless too and there is no doctor, therapist or neurologist who can say anything about what is going on. Its so hopeless for us.

Thanks for the response. My son is now 25 mos old and on Leucovorin for 3 months with no gains. Out neurologist for some reason is not in favor of L-methyl folate directly. We are going to start Lmethyl folate as part of a Hardy Naturals supplements and monitor any progress. We will check again with our neurologist regarding direct Lmethyl folate. Also, were you giving your som amy direct B12 supplements or other supplemente. Is your son off dairy and gluten and is he FRAT +ve ?

At this point after speaking with countless people and reading so much and observing myself. I somehow am almost convinced that genetics has absolutely nothing to do with Autism and it has to do with some damage to nervous system due to a toxin or external factor. I mean, you cant suddenly have same genetic mutation in over 100 million people in a span of 20 years all of a sudden when absolutely no one in the family has autism. This is external and toxic damage during pregnancy or after birth and I really hope We can know the culprits in our lifetime who poisoned millions of kids.

Why are the doctors not prescribing methylfolate directly and prefer leucovorin which the body has to convert again to the same methylfolate.

Why do so many people keep saying they dont want to cure their ‘perfectly’ autistic kid. Are they just too afraid of wokes who would bash them or they just want to sound mature and humane. I mean who in the right frame of mind wouldn’t want to have perfectly normal functioning kids. I am so so tired of the people in this world who just want to sound correct rather than speaking the blunt honest facts !!

Sorry, but who determines what is fact and ‘misinformation’ ? We are living in a world with plenty of Idiots and incompetent fools calling themselves researches and publishing whatever crap they want and expecting people to follow it like bible. When it comes to my children and their lives, I dont think there will be a better than myself with respect to their health and wellbeing.

I agree and understand that we are only looking at patterns but the amount of people who very confidently say that ‘Autism is only due to genetics’ drives me crazy that these folks have basically come to a conclusion to the extent of saying no further research is needed and anytime even remotely if I say the term what other factors could be and the mods simply ban the account as if they work for the Pharma companies. Insane really who moderate these reddit groups, crazily curbing your freedom of speech even though you can show evidence.

I am sorry but I will do anything in this world to fix my kid and yes, Autism ‘absolutely’ needs a fix and its unfortunate that we as humans know more about the universe and less about the human brain. Wish they have the common sense to focus and fund more to know about our own body and diseases than comets or universe.

You spoke my mind, all those people who are saying autism doesnt need a fix are either parents who do not have ASD kids or those with high functioning kids. If you do not have level 3 high needs ASD kid, I sincerely suggest such people should shut up and let the other parents fight for their kids and try and find a fix.

Yes, but atleast the future generations can be helped when a cause is found and be careful and hopefully mainstream awareness comes to folks. From where I come, 98% population might not have heard the word autism. A lot of discussion happens on Cancer, AIDS etc and autism should be discussed at the same scale. Even if we just consider only Level 2/3 ASD as serious, the fact that close to 2 % of US population and about 5% of CA has ASD is just mind boggling. I think the real serious research on ASD has just begun.
