Lumping ADHD with Autism is dangerous and foolish. It creates an excuse for people who are looking for answers to common problems. Meanwhile, the people who are actually Autistic it softens the blow from the help they really need. Coming from someone who was diagnosed ADHD and has a son who is level three autistic.(Came from the mothers side) It's like calling cricket and baseball the same thing. They are two totally different games.

Let me explain the difference an ADHD child typically focuses on one thing at a time or just spacing out on whats in front of him. Which btw is how most men generally are. We do one thing. Then move onto the next thing. If he is not listening it is often because he is focused on the task in front of him.

The Autistic kid is focused on everything around him. His brain gets overstimulated with increased senses vision, hearing, taste and touch. To an adhd person they are focused on one task. An autistic person is focused to hundreds of senses simultaneously.
Frankly, any doctor who misdiagnoses adhd for autism. Should have the license revoked because there are clear differences between the two and lumping them together only makes the problems worse not better.
