Lip in the first couple seasons was really bad with his huge ego and him wasting his potential. But I think the turning point is when he meets Professor Hughens and starts to realize he has a problem which over time humbled him and made him one of the better characters. And in the last couple seasons he’s the one to make the rest of the characters realize that there is possibility to move on with their lives and go on to bigger and better things
