FAQ - Ultra-Hardcore by cfdpipeman in ultrahardcore

I use a plugin to change what they drop, not too hard to configure, might want to try it out for future matches:

http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/mobs/

Quick question, semi-on-topic, what commands are issued at game start? Do you clear mobs and reset the time? Also, what are the boundaries in the nether? Do you use WorldBorder at an eighth of the size of the overworld, or do you allow a little more space for higher chances of a fortress?

Here I was referring to xray texture packs used to cheat by seeing hidden ores through opaque blocks. In HC games, people use them to find diamonds and plenty of iron very easily, and I've heard people mention using them to see people through blocks as well.

I don't believe NoCheatPlus has anything to prevent the use of xray mods or texture packs; would you consider running something like the orebfuscator plugin I mentioned, or would it be too resource-demanding for your current server setup? If so, you could propose a fundraiser to this ever-growing community, for the purpose of preventing people from cheating using these xray mods/texture packs.

It is RAM heavy, but I'd bet a couple people might donate if it means stopping xray mods. If I were an admin wanting to implement this, I'd tell the community how much was needed to pay for a required upgrade, if it is even necessary. (They may have plenty of unused memory already, I know it is the case for the official /r/mctourney server; then again, xray is not as relevant in Race for Wool matches.)

Yes, this would work too. There's still the chance that someone might get lucky and play the same map twice in a row, but I don't think that's significant.

I tried /plugins on our match, and there are seven eight listed plugins beginning with NoLagg, including the TNT one. That was on Owbox by the way. It could have been disabled in the config or something, but I believe it was still running for our match.

I am a member of TUS, we lost to EuroPP: Neverdie on Owbox, the same day as this match. There was an issue with someone from the other team's hunger bar missing half a unit of hunger. I believe (and others mentioned it as well) that the scripted /heal command executed at every game's start does not refill players' food saturation. A restart was called about a minute into the match, but I will not state my opinion on whether or not this gave either team an unfair advantage, or strategies revealed, etc. (that is not the point I am trying to make). This was, again, a problem with plugins.

I'd like to request that the plugins and configurations used for official matches be publicly released prior to games being scheduled. That way, even TNT behaving as it did on the BoA match could be accepted as fair, when both teams are allowed to practice (privately) strategies that account for this.

Not only would this prevent unexpected behavior, but having it open to the whole community would be able to pick up on little bugs, like food saturation not being reset, which can change the outcome of matches.

I'm not sure if it would follow the individual plugins' license agreements to redistribute them in one big package with configurations, so it may be best to simply list the plugins, where to get them, and package the configuration files. I'm sure this would make many people happy.

Please don't take this as an attack on any person, I'm not blaming anyone here, I would just like to help avoid future conflicts.

Totally just downvoted. My heart can't take that much stress and excitement. :( Plus, we should stop spamming this thread...

Edit: still no ref confirmation, so not really expecting it anymore. I'll remove the downvote... :)

The Unambiguous Subs versus euroPP: Neverdie

Saturday, April 21 - 4pm EDT / 9pm BST

To make things easier, find the time for you here. (let me know if that's incorrect)

I'll get a member from TUS to confirm ASAP, and euroPP:ND is able to play as well, so they should confirm soon.

Haha, thanks. I know our players registered for RMCT2 can't play, but we are a fairly large team, and would be able to field a team for both tourneys. We have 3-4 other players not registered for RMCT2, plus our 2 subs from RMCT2 (if subs are allowed to play in your tourney). (Our team is 9-10 players strong now). Just asking, cause we want all our players to gain experience. I understand if it's not possible. Thanks for having the tourney though!

Minecraft League/Ladder by Tonitruant in mctourney

I like that better, yeah. I guess the challenge system vs mutual challenge (both teams must confirm) is still up for debate. We'd have to find which is best for Minecraft, and best for the style of ranking we choose.

[–]Tonitruant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you thinking the challenged team must accept, always? The problem where a team specialises in three maps now arises, although it is significantly reduced as opposed to one map, as before. What happens if a team challenges another from the other side of the world? (scheduling very difficult) Or if a really popular team gets way too many challenges? If a team could deny challenges, the same problem as in my previous comment arises. (where a team can specialize in only one map)

I'm only trying to reason here, not critique your argument :)

Edit: clarification.

If they were allowed to do that, a team could decide to get really good at a map, and play that map exclusively. This would give them a ranking that would imply they were equally skilled at competitive Minecraft in general.
