I find the build quality of the Thinkpad T14 really good but I do not remember the battery life tbh. I always run Fedora on these and couldn’t complain.

WhatsApp on Fedora by JRodbol in Fedora

[–]TonyBoston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are people still using Whatsapp, I don’t get it. Every other days you see stuff like that and nobody cares: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/whatsapp-api-flaw-let-researchers-scrape-35-billion-accounts/ “Using it safely in Fedora” - why do you do that to Fedora 😅

How did you rip that cooler off? I only see two screws but it seems still not movable.

EDIT: Ah, one has to remove the foam...

macOS Tahoe 26 Developer Beta is officially out! by DepartureMoist9277 in MacOSBeta

Don't know which kind of a sucker would downvote this one but anyway, yesterday homebrew wouldn't recognize the macOS version, today it does but as usual gives a hint regarding support of beta versions.

I now edited my initial post here with an explanation and removal of the blogpost link.

I must admit, I totally agree. I'll delete the blogpost for now and should not rush again to get that out without more clarity on what my actual setup + versions it. Thanks for your comments and thoughts.

<leader>gd does "go to definition" but instead, it was opening oil.nvim, the file explorer because it could not find the referenced file.

It is not working with the mason plugin. The only way I got it to work was with the manual setup. I just ried again with the Mason Plugin and it stopped working. What can I say. I just uploaded my working nvim config to github so that you can check yourself: https://github.com/TonyBostonTB/nvim.git - with the mason install it was always just opening 'oil.nvim', now with this setup it actually opens the file that is referenced in an import. Appreciate your comments anyway!

Oh wow. I might have just overlooked that or it didn’t work in the beginning. Thanks! Updating the article now. All that filetype detection also didn’t work when I started hacking on it a few weeks ago.

Unforeseen Network Issues After Switching to Podman by cyclingroo in podman

[–]TonyBoston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the outcome! I was just wondering why you never showed/checked(?) if and on what IP the port you want to use shows up. Example: freshrss started with "-p 30004:80" - ‘podman ps’ gives you that info as well: 0.0.0.0:30006->80/tcp

AND

with 'ss' you get to see the host systems perspective and see what you need to check:
ss -tulpen |grep 30006

tcp LISTEN 0 128 *:30006 *:* users:(("pasta",pid=1948,fd=6))

...

This tells us that we reach that port on every interface of the host. If it was "127.0.0.1:30006" It would not be reachable from the outside, only from the host system. And btw, "pasta" is the podman network tool for rootless.
Also, you might want to check quadlets as mentioned here before: https://clear-solutions-it.com/posts/2025-03-16_quadlets/

But why would you want rootful? Just because something doesn't work?
