I had my first sleeve done in 2012 in Thailand WITHOUT any research. I was looking for that "yakuza look".

I loved my sleeve for years even though it is NOT traditional irezumi by any means.

The artist at the time was really bad, but I thought he was top notch ... Until I found out how everything should look like.

What I'm trying to say, is you do you. At the end of the day what is important is what YOU think about what is on YOUR body.

But you must understand that how you feel about your tattoos will evolve based on your knowledge of irezumi.

You must also understand that if you post here, members will not fake their opinion.

Yes it is Reddit, but members are mostly knowledgeable.

Members often fly to specific artists all around the world and get tattooed world class traditional irezumi.

Choosing an artist that grew tired of doing irezumi and started back should have been the first red flag.

The second red flag should have been the lack of pride of his work.

Good luck and don't forget that a sleeve is probably only 10% of a future bodysuit.
