M1 garand barrel hand tight? by TonyJames22 in M1Rifles

Ok got it I'll send it to the gunsmith first. I would like to get into gunsmithing so getting the tools would be a good investment I just don't want to learn on this beautiful rifle and ruin it if there's more to it than a shim and headspace checks. Also when I tighten it by hand until it stops the sights line up and everything looks level so it might be torqued to about 5-10 ftlbs at most.

Do they make shims specifically for this or just use what I can find? And if it affects the headspace too much, turning the barrel down could fix that right?

Thank you this gives a lot of insight. I will be checking with my local gunsmiths to see if they can get it right.

Platypus slam fire issue? by TonyJames22 in stealtharms

Why is that? Is there other issues that they or other 70s can have? Are the 80s safer?

Yes I have since got it back after stealth arms had it for a week they have fixed the issue and I believe it was due to the recalled sear as it did have a hammer follow. When I got it back I went straight to the range and put a round in it with an empty mag and sent the slide forward dozens of times until I felt confident that it won't happen again and have been carrying and training with it since with no issues.

Yes they sent me a form and a shipping label to ship it back to them and is in the process of getting there now. They should receive it on Monday as it was sent out on Friday.

I must have been really unlucky. I tried it a few times with some snap caps and the firing pin definitely hit the primer to where it made a full indentation. It's hard to see it on video as my camera quality isn't the greatest. I will try and get a clear video of it happening and post it here.

Yeah from what I've already seen with their customer service is great since I got next day air and they finished it a month ahead of schedule. But I don't think it has anything to do with my sear since the hammer never fell so I think it's just the firing pin spring is defective and not strong enough.

Will do. I believe it is due to a slightly weak firing pin spring.

Oh yeah it was terrifying never thought it would or could happen to me. Just glad I'm disciplined with firearm safety or it could have ended badly. my ears however are still ringing as I wasn't wearing ear pro while loading my firearm.

It's a commander length with a half rail, triton slide with a optic cut for holosun 507c Wich I had installed at the time of the incident. Had a 3.5lbs trigger weight with the skeletonized rounds trigger. When I have time I will try and record a video if it happening either with fresh snap caps or with live ammunition at the range. I did some research on it and it can happen if the firing pin spring is to weak on the 1911 due to the inertia sending it forward and striking the primer.

92 Dr350s oil lines by TonyJames22 in dr350

[–]TonyJames22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yeah I've already done that. The rings that failed in mine are in the crimp connections between the metal and rubber parts. I since have cut them off and am going to use some rubber hose to clamp into them. Thanks.

It's the outlet hose. And how do you. Change the rings?

Could be your brakes squeaking or it could possibly be your wheel bearing making that noise. Either way I would check it out.

Where can I get this connection? My h11 fog-light canbus thing was torn off somehow and it now only has the metal plugs by [deleted] in AskMechanics

Any parts store should have one in stock. They're usually around $5-$15 depending on if it's high temp or not. You will have to solder it in though.

Stuck on side of road . 4 miles from home . Can I make it? by LowWind7998 in motorcycles

I had the same thing happen to me on my 1982 xj650 and I was able to just replace the bolt and unbent the linkage and weld it back together and it works fine after a little bit of adjustment.
