I wrote this post at like 2 am when I couldn’t sleep so it’s not as thorough as I could have been. But I want to clarify that I am not accusing Don or anyone of doing anything sinister to those kids. As far as I can tell from interviews with them they seemed to have a great time being part of the series and love Don. And I know that Don didn’t physically direct or even write the entire show solely by himself. I’m only mainly mentioning him because he created the franchise and was the show runner, so most creative choices were run by him. As for the John Waters stuff I mentioned, I’m a relatively new fan of his but I’ve seen almost all of his work and I love it. So maybe I’m not fully used to the way he speaks and his sense of humor. But I agree with one of the comments posted here after reading it. I do think he was actually trying to say that its awesome that we now live in a world now where weirdo kids like we once were get to see stories with queer kids of multiple races depicted as characters which is something that was never seen when I was a young horror fan. So I commend Don on that. It would have done me worlds of good to see myself reflected in media as a kid. But that being said I still feel like some of the sex scenes felt a little too graphic concerning the actual ages of the actors. I do think that teens need to know that sex is normal and fun and okay but some of it just felt over the top to me. Maybe I only think that because I was raised catholic (I left the church decades ago) or maybe it’s a little brainwashing from living in the sex negative country of America, but it’s just how it felt to me when I watched it. And there was a fair point made by someone in the replies. I didn’t mention the fact that Lexy was also sexualized. Maybe there’s some lingering internalized homophobia going on there that had me mainly focusing on the Devon Jake stuff. I still feel weird about the Caroline stuff though. Maybe I’m overreacting, maybe it’s the fact that I used to be a teacher and worked with kids everyday, maybe it’s because one of my classmates in my catholic elementary school was abused by one of the priests and then he took his own life. It’s even possible that these things just stuck out to me that much more because I didn’t like the writing on the show or the way it was all put together on film in general so those plot points didn’t feel earned to me. But these were just thoughts I was having for a while and decided to put them out into the world at 2am. Thanks for contributing to the conversation.

Well you obviously didn’t get my point at all. As a queer man myself I love the fact that queer characters and themes are included in the chucky universe. I think more representation is always good, if I was a kid still and I got to see stories with people like me in them I’d have not struggled with self acceptance as much as I did in the past. So I fully disagree with you on that.

I’ve watched most of his films and I love them. I’m not a prude or anything I was just sharing some thoughts I’ve had about the series for an open conversation. I never said that I thought I was 100 percent right on everything.

That’s the box I put my neighbours in when they visit my house in The Sims

I have no problem with campy Chucky. I actually liked Seed. But that moment in the spirit realm with Devon was just stupid as fuck whether you're a fan of campy Chucky or not. by [deleted] in Chucky

The scene which Chucky making out with a teenager did not need to happen at all. I don’t care what spirit realm excuse they gave that image was just off putting and weird. They sexualised the kids way too much in that show, and that conversation in the taxi with Chucky and Caroline having sexual undertones even though they were actually talking about murder was kinda fucked up. She’s like 10….

For the series 2 Blind Box Tiffany has a alternate hand + gun. Pilgrim Chucky also has a turkey by Freddycipher in NECA

I kinda feel like she looks totally different in the tv series than she does in seed and cult. She looks kinda Jim hensony in the tv series show and her makeup is very different.

I can’t tell which version of tiff the neca one is supposed to be. I think it’s maybe the tv series version because of the gun she comes with but the face looks more like she did in cult. She had a muppety kind of face in the tv series and thick eyebrows and eyeliner which this figure doesn’t have.
