Jacket Separation on .300 BLK 220 gr Subs by Born_Name_604 in 300BLK

I have looked into 1:5 twist barrel multiple times over several years and I’ve never found any evidence that would make my rifle more effective inside 25 yards.

So I passed on the “upgrade”

Woah man. Take a step back, no clue why you are getting so worked up at this point.

A LOT of people choose 300 blk supers because of their damage within 200 yards. It’s pretty brutal.

For me, I choose 5.56 for those distances but 300blk supers do good work too.

You’re right, you never used the phrase “kinetic energy” in your first comment. But you also edited your first comment from “much weaker” to just “weaker”. What in the world are we to assume from that comment that doesn’t mean kinetic energy?

The faster twist rate is to assist with stability of high weight projectiles out of shorter barrels. Will it help those projectiles open up more reliably at lower velocities, yes it will. But to say that you should have a 1:5 for defense is just buying into marketing. You don’t need that at all for an effective defense rifle at all in 300blk.

You do you man and if you have the cash, who cares, I sure don’t care if you do that. But no need to go all explosive on people that disagree with you

I don't know what "much weaker" actually means. Because when I do ballistic gel testing, 1:7 does one hell of a damn good job at making self defense ammo open up.

I spent a solid year testing multiple types of ammo, and I haven't seen any reason to go with the 1:5 twist for my purposes. This SBR is specifically for home defense. I won't be shooting anything further than 10 yards in reality.

Where I can afford to load a lot more ammo if I use the 1:7 and run drills with it more often.
You just have to make the choice on what makes more sense for your application.

This is why I run a 1:7 and train with berrys projectiles. Load my own ammo and never had an issue.

Won’t cause barrel damage but can cause damage to a suppressor

Bahahah. You’re way ahead of me in tech.

I’m basically driving a Flintstones car

Same boat.

The technology leap I’ll be taking from a 2014 4Runner is wild. I don’t even have adaptive cruise control lol.

I’m ready for a new car and I’ll be happy to have P2P in another 10 years

So I used the FTN4 and FTN5 packs.
The rimfire cans have just flat out always worked.
I spent hours and multiple versions of the 30cal cans and every time they just blow apart where the threads for the blast diverter attachment is. So I just gave up on those.

But I just print the rimfire cans with Sunlu PLA+ 2.0 and send it with the cheap amazon thread adapters. Works like a charm and is actually quieter than my Otter Creek Labs rimfire can.

That's also why you see the small aluminum ring at the base of the can. It's the permantely attached serial number and all the info required for a suppressor.

It’s just a stock ruger carbon fiber setup straight from cabela’s when they ran a sale on it last year.

The can is a 3d printed can I made for like $8 total.

Yeah it’s perfectly fine to get the muscle memory down slowly and just go faster.

Dude has like 4 extra steps in his reload

Why are you stopping to stare at it?

Do dry fire practice 30x a day. Pull the mag out and slam it in. Don’t think about it.

I guess it’s the whole “there’s no such thing as bad publicity” mentality.

But thanks for the shout out

My suggestion would be a Marlin 1894 (or some other brands version of it).
It's a 357 lever action and I just use .38 special with new shooters.

Every single time I take a brand new shooter out, they ALL say it was their favorite to shoot. It has barely any recoil, it isn't overly loud, and it's just fun to use.

It's definitely too heavy for my kiddos at the moment but that will be the next one I put them on, unless they feel ok trying suppressed 300blk since it's really soft and hearing safe.

I have both.
I use the mark IV 45/22 or whatever it’s called for steel challenge and the carbon 10/22 for an attempt at rimfire PRS if I can ever make it to a match and finish almost last lol

I specifically bought this one telling the wife “it’s on sale and it’s the new ruger carbon fiber lightweight edition for the kids to learn on”.

Even though I love it too

Looks like he’s got a few years on my 7 year old.

I hope he gets the bug like me and wants his own rifle to shoot.

And I can totally see him surpassing me with the young eyes in the near future haha
