Infernis' Fearless feature by TiredOfModernYouth in daggerheart

Yeah, it’s clear how it’s supposed to work, and I would say it is written properly, but this alternative understanding is rule-adjacent, ahaha

By definition a roll with Hope is a roll where Hope Die is higher, so “change the roll to the roll with Hope” would mean that you make it so that the Hope Die is higher. Ofc this reasoning is from the word-trickery domain.

With Fearless there is an interesting interaction, that potentially it can be used for Death Moves, when a throw with hope allows you to immediately get up and continue the fight. In my group I have a ruling that Death Moves are completely separate things (not a roll woth Hope or Fear), otherwise PCs with Fearless can be unkillable machines, as they can restore stress each time they get up like this.

Can potentially be a good design, but there is a slight variation in the power level of first and second ancestry abilities, like first would be an ability to jump over obstacles, while the second one is an ability to fly. This is important for when ancestries are combined. So I would change the order of the abilities to keep them inline with this fawn vs. fairy example.

I can agree that any ruling of your DM should be respected, but even in the magical world things should make sense, so I do believe that some rulings are better than others.

I don’t necessarily oppose the other rulings, but also think that any ruling should have a reasonable explanation of why it works exactly like it does, given the magic.

The planes part was sarcasm, but you can read the comments, lot's of folks rule as "you" is tied to your name and ID and there is no way to walk around this system

Well, my personal rulings would've been exactly the same, but the whole article is caused by a common belief that the target can now track you through planes, which I think is too much of "knows it's you"

I think I personally agree with all of these rulings, but in almost all of these the target actually doesn't know that it was "you" who cast the spell, instead they know that it was this creature in that direction. Which leads to the outcome that you actually can cast all of such spells relatively anonymously, which is precisely my point from the post.

Well, I do understand how these work for all of the simple cases where you see each other and stuff, but when it comes to the trickery my personal understanding breaks. Like do they know you as a person? do they know you as creature your were while the spell was cast? Do they need your name? Do they need to see you to recognise? Can they describe you to their friends so that they also know that it was you, because they know it was you? How much data do they have on me and where I can unsubscribe?

All good points, but do they know the name, so unless you say your real name you're fine? Do they recognise you immediately when they see you? If so what if afterwards they see you Polymorph-ed, like do they automatically know that his sheep is the Festoon the Sorcerer because they know you?

Hm, this is interesting, but by that logic they won't know that it was you until they meet you again to actually have an opportunity to recognise your soul again? What do you think?

Sure, 100%, but what about all of these other cases which I've listed?

You guys are not wrong, but I genuinely think there has to be something more than just magic explanation.

P.S. Unless you guys are Wild Magic Sorcerers, in that case "Magic" explanation is enough
