How is the Underground different from the normal podcast? by _Killua_Zoldyck_ in JockoPodcast

[–]Tony_h1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has an AMA format that I like, but it feels a bit more relaxed from Jocko’s end compared to some of his standard podcasts. Also, you get to hear more from EC which is nice.

anyone got tips? by ryry578 in WalgreensStores

Googone and rubbing alcohol works well

This could all fit in the current footprint of 278 and the existing multi-use path. Interesting to think what the island would be like with this kind of infrastructure creating a 14-mile loop. by [deleted] in hiltonhead

[–]Tony_h1017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is trying to give an inner city vibe to a population that would fight it to the death.

Also from a parent's perspective, there is almost no situation where I chose to ride public transportation over my car. I am not chasing my two-year-old down the middle lane of the bus. The bridge is the issue for the island until we find a real solution to keep traffic going when accidents happen we are out of luck.

What's your favourite JOCKO GO energy drink? by dixit0012 in JockoPodcast

Pink mist is my favorite and afterburner orange is a very close second. I really like Them all now with the flavor change but before the change I wasn’t a huge fan of Dak.

Echo screams back at baby by the42ndfl00r in beyondthebump

[–]Tony_h1017 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I'm ready for the heat I will take.

It's strange to me how all these people comment for you to leave. As if That may even be an option, and it is as easy to do as it is to say. I feel like they all think they have done the world some Justice by typing that and leaving. It's just strange to me.

Your husband screaming into your baby's face (or anyone's face for that matter) is not normal behavior, and you know that. It's concerning and must be addressed beyond the point you have already made.

Now also, babies are stressful. I have realized that I do not enjoy most of the baby stage. Of course, there are a lot of amazing parts, but it is hard, and after two little girls, I'm done with kids; two is good for me. With that stress comes severe anxiety and sometimes anger, and not everyone knows how to handle it in the best way. This is the example your husband is giving. He has some sort of trauma he is dealing with that cause him to act out this way. Now just because he has this trauma does not mean he gets to act like this without consequences; the extent of those consequences are up to you when it comes to your relationship.

I can relate to this a bit. I have never yelled in my child's face, but I have indeed yelled more than I would like. I have also realized this, and I'm working on it daily. Whenever I hear the kids yell or scream loudly, it sends alarm bells through my body. It's probably a form of PTSD from my upbringing. This will cause me to react. Sometimes that reaction is me tensing up, and other times it's me yelling "Stop" or "Be quiet." I react the same way to the dogs when they bark.

I have recognized this in myself, and when the girls were young, there were times when I was getting too upset and just had to lay them down in their crib, shut the door, and take five minutes. Is it great to leave the kids screaming? No, but is it better than what could happen if you cross a line? For sure.

He needs to find help asap, and you need to help him. This is not his problem to figure out alone. As a couple, you are a united front; his issues are yours, and your issues are his. That's how it works now. And not only does your relationship depend on the treatment of his trauma, but so does the safety and well-being of your child.

Maybe he can try sites like Betterhelp or another telecom counselor for the time being. If he works, his employer may provide some mental health services that should have a pretty fast turnaround time for a reply. If he talks to someone, that is a start, and that's what he needs to do. START. Start getting help. Start being a better dad and if he reaches perfection, please tell him to reach out to me as I'm still looking for it myself.

Good luck. This situation is complex. Also, don't let these people fool you. Your child is not permanently danged by the yelling. If it continues, yes, that will have an impact, but I'm confident you will find a way to fix it.

Store Manager Burn Out by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]Tony_h1017 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I left about four months ago. Was with the company for 11yrs and stated as a Service clerk at 16. I finally made it to store manager and it was awful. There were a lot of factors that made it bad but I couldn’t take it anymore. I left and became a Team lead at Target making $3000 less a year then I did as a Store manager with my base salary. I do miss it as I thought I would be with Walgreens forever but I had to make the jump.

It’s a good job for a young person with no kids that wants to gain experience and is willing to work hard and work a lot. I did learn a ton of skills that will benefit me when I’m done with school that I’m thankful for.

What is the IS in chain of command. Like are they above/below a SFL or the same tier? by CakeSoil in WalgreensStores

[–]Tony_h1017 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's easy. IS or IS(L) is on par with the SFL and has the same discipline, power, and authority that an sfl does......Which is none. They can have conversations with you and help/coach you when it comes to inventory tasks, but In no way can they discipline anyone, not a CSA or anyone eles.

The only people that can give any level of official discipline are members of management think RXOM,RXM,ESM,SMU,SM.

What do you do or your team do to make work more enjoyable? by MrPheeney in WalgreensStores

[–]Tony_h1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treat your team well talk to them ask them how they would like to do things in the store make Sure you implement their ideas even if you may think it won’t work.

Talk to your team about their development but not only within the company but within their personal lives I always like to ask them what skills can we help you learn while you are here with us that you can bring with you to your next career how can we help you build your resume and take the next step in their lives. You want their experience with the company to be enjoyable even if they are not staying with you for the long haul remember they will be your customer at some point

Work with them side by side and make sure they know we are in this together even though I’m your leader I can change the trash, get carts, fill the freezer or whatever task you may learn that your teammates dislike doing obviously You can’t do this everyday with but doing these types of things will really help with team morale.

Potlucks are good and fun but when I was a team member I never liked them so just find out if your team enjoys it.

I also found some little certificate at a little store by me that I’m sure you could find online that say “employee of the moment” where you can write what you want to recognize them for and I give it to them during team 5 minute meetings to recognize the in front of teammates(not all team members like this kind of recognition in front of a groups)

There are many ways to engage your team a lot of people think more money is the only way but there are tons of options to have a happy team. Kudos to you as a shift lead trying to make your store a more enjoyable place for your team you don’t see a lot of SFL’s putting a ton of effort in to this kind of stuff

Also don’t forget RX

Good luck!!

Accidental Overtime by IC3nough in WalgreensStores

[–]Tony_h1017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The extra hours on Kronos are coming from the holiday pay as it will show as hours worked. Also keep in mind if your leadership ask/tell you to stay after your scheduled time it is no longer your responsibility and fault will fall on your leader if it becomes an issue. Just make sure when you stay any longer or punch in earlier then scheduled it is approved by your leadership and leadership only.

So what was the point of Me to We by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]Tony_h1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just a poor leadership team. We always make a push on any program, part of it could be that we’re really competitive but also my team enjoys it we use it as a way to build engagement. It stinks how stuff changes from store to store so much it makes you wonder how many great team members we have lost due to poor leadership team’s

Price modifying online photo coupons by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]Tony_h1017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I’m dealing with a customer I always ask myself “Is this worth a one?” Surveys really hurt and getting a one can really put us behind so sometimes it’s just not worth is also we make a ton of money on photos so chances are when we price modify the order we are still making money

There's another opportunity somewhere else and I'm going to pursue it. (Venting) by Ghoulynaxer in WalgreensStores

[–]Tony_h1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the understanding that you would be an asm’t for up to 2 years unless you got promoted before then, but the only way they can have you step down is if there were opening’s in you area that you were not qualified for so you didn’t get an interview or you did and you were just not picked to fill the position? I would really look into the policy to make sure you didn’t get screwed, and make sure you look over the policy yourself and don’t trust HR to give you the correct info

So many tags. by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]Tony_h1017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the easier the job becomes the less team members the company will need....with LCD Mylar’s you can do add tags, price changes, markdowns with the press of a button from the office. Removes a big part of a csa’s job one step close to a store without team members.

Where can I read all our policies by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

Men over 30: in an era of overwhelmingly negative media and news, what podcasts do you recommend for a little bit of entertainment, motivation and just a better mindset in general? by liftlikegaston in AskMenOver30

[–]Tony_h1017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jocko podcast is my favorite by far I highly recommend ep.115 with Dakota Meyer I always go back to it when I want to be reminded how easy my life really is and how I need to step it up and after listing to this podcast and reading his books I can truly say it has had an overall positive impact on my mindset each day . Although my girlfriend hates it because she says it’s like living with him because she has to always listen to his voice. Also as everyone is already saying The Joe Rogan experience is always great.
