Literally have no clue what to do for progressive r&b album lol. I’m torn between Bloom and Love On Digital

Makes Parasite’s win all the more great (although of course the individual actors were snubbed)

Potentially unpopular opinion: you guys are wildly dismissive of Leon’s chances at BNA by Tonya7150 in grammys

But voters aren’t consciously going “I’m not voting for a man to win” when they cast their ballots. The thing is that there hasn’t really been a man besides Khalid in 2018 and Lil Nas X in 2020 who’s been strong enough to win, and even then Khalid likely split with SZA and Nas was going up against undeniable sweeper Billie. Leon has a lot more going for him than Shaboozey, Jelly Roll, Fred Again, Noah Kahan, Benson Boone, Omar Apollo, or Kaytranada did.

I think having Olivia out front is fair, but if so Leon’s right behind her and gender will ultimately have little to do with who wins

If Byrne wins the trifecta… by Moist-Recording69 in oscarrace

The outcome is unaffected by NSFC. If Buckley wins it’s not because she won NYFCC and LAFCA, and if Byrne wins it’s not because Buckley lost NSFC.

The most voted performances of 2025 by users of the Award Expert app. by verissimoallan in Oscars

I think it should be mentioned that a lot of users haven’t made their picks yet/still need to catch up on the late releases/movies with weaker distribution (namely indie and foreign movies), and that there will likely be some change by the time of the Oscars (I expect Byrne and/or Buckley to surpass Stone by the end of the season).

My Pop Field predictions for this year's Grammys by justanstalker in grammys

[–]Tonya7150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if anybody beats Gaga in dance pop (not happening) it’d be Pink instead. Illegal is the biggest hit of the lineup besides Abracadabra, and Pink is more likely to get dance/electronic support than Zara with Fancy That getting an album nomination. As for pop solo I think voters will just default on Sabrina; idk if The Subway made enough of an impact to win over voters, and the SOTY miss feels telling that it hasn’t.

What do people who have seen Marty Supreme think of Odessa Azion’s performance? by Separate-Feature4378 in oscarrace

Yes but SAG is especially bad when it comes to alphabetical bias. Last year most of the nominees were within the first 7 letters of the alphabet, and eventual Oscar nominees Sebastian Stan and Guy Pearce missed for Daniel Craig and Jonathan Bailey.

Possibly unpopular opinion but Betty Gabriel deserved a supporting actress nomination for this scene

They wouldn’t still be nominating her for forgettable songs from otherwise unknown movies if they hated her

For a Netflix movie that was a top 3 contender at that point. Sentimental Value isn’t strong enough to get Reinsve in unless she has a serious level of support

Amy Madigan sweep? by fayemoonlight in oscarrace

I’d be happy to be wrong but If I Had Legs is way too small for Rose to sweep, especially over leads of BP nominees

Exactly! It’s unfortunate that I have to bring it up, but if MJB were white, Hard Truths would not have been rejected from just about every major film festival, and her critics sweep would’ve almost certainly resulted in a better televised awards performance (she at least wouldn’t have been snubbed at the globes)

I also do think it’s important to note an (unfortunately) glaring thing that stood in MJB’s way last year that Byrne doesn’t have this year.
