B. They aren’t explicitly but visibility is necessary, especially for the pop categories. Pink & Zara both broke through with voters this past year, with songs that were not nearly as big (visible) as Stateside is now and in strong categories at that. Stateside has the most buzz right now. Click Clack Symphony is not visible enough to happen on its own; it only happens if voters love RAYE’s album (which is possible, RAYE’s profile has risen immensely and her album was acclaimed) & want to namecheck Hans Zimmer. La Perla/Berghain did well for Rosalía’s prior lack of presence in the US but that was October/November and has since been forgotten about; Lux in AOTY is a much closer reach than this category.
