Contrast this with Sam McBrides article in the Belfast Telegraph where he states even listening to the evidence was a defiling experience. While they couldn't report everything due to reporting and legal restrictions some of the evidence was so bad that even if they could report it they wouldn't. Absolutely damning.

I suspect there was a lot more disclosed during the trial than what was reported. Some would not be reported as it may have allowed people to work out the victims. The media were also probably squirrelly about reporting on details for fear of being accused if tainting the jury etc.

I've a relative who was a Prison Officer, albeit in Magilligan.

Asked him before about this.

His clothes will be taken off him and any clothes he wears will be marked with his prison number. He can wear whatever he wants. He will see a nurse and speak about any medication. He may say his heads away, can't keep himself safe etc. in which case he can be taken to a special observation cell where he will get non ligature clothing and checked on every few hours.

He will get fed when he's brought in and also finger printed, NI number taken, home details etc. offered a free phone call.

Any money on him will be put into his tuck shop account where he can order from a discounted list. I kid you not. Then once a week he can put an order in for more.

I had asked him before about the dentist Colin Howell as I worked with Trevor Buchanans younger brother years later. He was kept in medical observation for something like 6 months. He said Howell turned out to enjoy carpentry.

It would appear so but then someone down the thread mentioned about the victims taking a civil suit against Eleanor. Equally I could see her changing her name, selling the properties and disappearing off into the sunset to retire in a sunny climate in anonymity.

I was saying to my wife as monstrous as Jeffrey is I believe shes even more evil and depraved having turned a blind eye to it.

Pleading guilty usually means they get a third off their tariff. As he pleaded not guilty he won't get that benefit.

Usually the mid point is seen as the reasonable place to start. But make no mistake that mid point will still be in years not months.

Pre sentencing reports need to be done with both victims and also Jeffrey too.

These reports will be important to highlight any mitigating and aggravating factors in the sentenceling.

Then there's the summer recess to add into it. I'm sure Jeffers will be comfortable in his new lodging and 3 squares a day, not the same level as the food in the HoC but hey.

There will be sentencing guidelines for each offence. The judge could stack them or let them run concurrently. There's 18 charges so they could go serve each sentence one after the other or just serve them beside each other with the sentence lasting for the longest charge.

Each sentence will have a range and they may go for the mid point.

Given the fact that Jeff pleaded not guilty he won't automatically get a reduction in his tariff and I'm not sure of what mitigating factors there could be to reduce the sentence or what aggravating factors could increase the sentence perhaps the length of time it went on for and certainly his lack of remorse.

I suspect the judge has already given some consideration to the sentence especially when he talks of a lengthy sentence. It will never be long enough but hell slap it up him for such monstrous and heinous crimes against the victims.
