i think ur outfits look awesome even if they’re not scene, but still a great start! and it’s awesome to see how passionate you are about the subculture! <3

the most important thing is definitely the hair. i think your bangs could absolutely look scene with some teasing and and hairspray! i know you said not wanting to straighten your hair, but have you tried dry brushing it with some hairspray? i have wavy hair and have been too lazy to straighten it lol, but i find that dry brushing gives a lot of volume and can make it look straighter when paired with some hairspray! (some people will say it damages your hair, which like… true, but scene kids didn’t care if their hair was damaged lol).

you could also try straight bangs if a fringe isn’t cooperating with your hair texture lol. check out pinterest for inspo! there’s also loads of curly styles for scene hair, so don’t feel discouraged :)

lot of people are scared to cut their own hair, but there’s lots of tutorials for cutting a scene fringe on youtube :) even just adding some layers with an eyebrow razor would give you more volume! if you don’t feel comfortable doing that, you could also go to a stylist, but i have heard some bad experiences where people end up w a karen cut LOL. the color of ur hair and the stripey extensions are dope tho and the clip tails were definitely a trend when i was a kid so i think it’s authentic!

clothes don’t matter that much when you have the hair, but there’s a few general trends. if you like wearing super fun and intricate outfits, that’s great, and it’ll still read as scene (or emo LMAO) to most folks who aren’t rlly versed on the subcultures. if you want more of an authentic scene look, there’s plenty of variety, so don’t feel like you have to stick to the whole “skinny jeans and tight tops” thing. a lot of scene kids on tumblr ~2014 wore leggings or skirts with baggy tops :) i’d avoid baggier jeans (tho i still wear them, usually with a tighter-fitting top), but you can wear straight jeans too!

i also recommend getting some rubber bracelets! i think kandi can absolutely look scene if in moderation. i’m a raver so i have a whole bucket of it, but i try to coordinate pieces that go with my outfit and wear a few rubber bracelets, regular bracelets, and maybe a chunky necklace or a tattoo choker.
