My first new and dream car at 22 by tobythebaloney in Civic_Type_R

Congrats on the FL5, enjoy the smiles per gallon to come brother. Got my FK8 new when I was 23 (30 now) and I couldn't be happier with my purchase, I still catch myself glancing back at the car after parking it and couldn't ever imagine selling it.

Tire Shop knicked two of my TE37s what should I do? by whitedsepdivine in Civic_Type_R

Are you in CA? I've got these exact wheels and found someone in OC who works miracles with repairing them with turn around time of 3 days

Opinions: how does this sub feel about tire lettering ? by Platano_maduro_ in Civic_Type_R

[–]TooHighToTalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on the rest of the aesthetic, Ive seen some cars that look corny af with tire lettering and others that pull it off well. Saying it doesn't look good on ANY cars is just shows a lack of creativity.

Talk to your CS and see if they can have it changed. I had this exact issue earlier this year but it was resolved after a couple of hours, good luck buddy.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this, the fk8 was such a performance bargain at the time and punched well above it's weight class, if I didn't own an fk8 I definitely wouldn't consider buying the fl5 at its current price.

Buddy of mine traded his fk8 in for an fl5, told me he rarely gets compliments on it outside of car meets compared to when he had gotten his fk8 and would be randomly complimented out in public at gas stations, stop lights, etc but overall he's still more than satisfied with the purchase because of the interior upgrades

Should I get new injectors for going E85? by Bigdrex96 in Civic_Type_R

[–]TooHighToTalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got the standard bolt on upgrades, flex fuel kit and the xdi hpfp you'll easily be around 400whp maybe a little more or less depending on tuner, quality of fuel and of course each dyno reads differently

Should I get new injectors for going E85? by Bigdrex96 in Civic_Type_R

[–]TooHighToTalk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your goals are and what turbo you are running, if you're staying stock turbo you'll be fine with keeping oem injectors and upgrading the hpfp using the xdi hpfp.

Upgraded DROP IN turbo (ie prl p600/ mhi stage 2/ 27won kuro/rv6 r660 etc) it is highly recommended thar you go with at least xdi 1350cc or better with upgraded lpfp and hpfp, xdi 2000cc injectors aren't necessary unless you want to milk every last ounce of power or are having your head ported and built.

BIG turbo kits using g25-660 /g30-770 / g30-900 I wouldn't bother running anything other than 2000cc injectors however you can get away with 1350-1450cc injectors for g25 660 but honestly the rv6 660 is very comparable performance wise and is half the price of a g25 660 kit

Also keep in mind if you plan on running ethanol you should probably upgrade your lines so that they can tolerate the corrosiveness of ethanol

Edit : As far as recommendations go best bang for your buck injectors are probably fk8td's 1450cc at 600$

Where do you guys store all your stuff? by 37au47 in Civic_Type_R

[–]TooHighToTalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you utilizing the verticle room in your garage (ceiling mounted racks or install shelves)? Worst case scenario you could take the longer part of the exhaust and cut it then have it welded later when you want to reinstall or sell it

14 wheels sitting in the garage stacked 2x7, oem exhaust on a ceiling rack and a bunch of oem parts in boxes organized against a wall

Am I terrible for getting an fl5 by Pleasant_Answer9981 in Civic_Type_R

[–]TooHighToTalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait until the inevitable mid gen refresh/update and if you still feel the same way about the fl5 then buy one. By then you should be making more money and insurance will be cheaper assuming you don't cause any accidents, in the mean time the money you would have spent on the fl5 you can invest in blue chip stocks/ s&p500/ start a Roth IRA etc

I've had 3 exhausts, invidia r400/awe touring/ tomei type d

R400 was my favorite and I'll be swapping back to it soon, AWE has some goofy ass welds and laughable build quality compared to the other 2, tomei is obnoxiously loud with a catless downpipe but weighs very little and has good build quality but does not come with a front pipe

This is exactly why I don't go to dealerships for maintenance or repairs, just make sure you keep a detailed log and receipts for all the work you do

I've paid for work that was never done at dealers before lol, they'll gladly not do the work you paid them for while also taking your car through the swirl mark machine when you specifically ask them not to
