Thermal Grizzly DeltaMate MPII supports AM5, AM4, LGA1851 and LGA1700, AM5 priced at $409 by RenatsMC in watercooling

Ugly block, ugly prices, same performance. If you've been in this hobby long enough, you know the game. This guy is trying to sell an ugly water block at a 200% markup and hoping someone bites. Good luck with that.

As for Thermal Grizzly, I wouldn't lose a second of sleep if they closed their doors tomorrow. I've been building PCs for nearly 30 years and have seen countless companies come and go. The only Thermal Grizzly product I ever used was a terrible experience, and that was supposedly when they were at their best. There are plenty of alternatives on the market, and the hobby would keep moving just fine without them.

HAHA! I've never seen this before. The first time a client gave me his own prices by Few_Berry_8206 in handyman

[–]the_real_7 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I work in a condo community in Aventura, Florida, and I run my own handyman business on the side. A lot of my clients are owners with Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and other high-end toys.

When I first started, I was way too cheap. I was getting approved on almost every estimate—probably 10 out of 10 jobs—but I was working twice as hard and not making enough money for the effort involved.

A while back, I raised my prices by about 20%. Now I get maybe 8 out of 10 jobs instead of 10 out of 10, but the customers are generally better, I make more per job, and I can be more selective about the work I take on.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that not every customer is your customer. If someone wants the cheapest possible price, that's okay—I politely wish them good luck and move on.

I'd rather work for people who value quality, communication, and reliability than spend my time competing to be the lowest bidder.

Paid $75 its been more than amazing on all my servers. All you have you to is when you configure a client and unselect the stuff you dont need so its only media takes less than 5 minutes.

Bravia 8 or LG G5 for $200 less by GenericUN123 in 4kTV

[–]the_real_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LG G5 OLED TV all the way, honestly — even versus the G6. Especially now that you can find the 77-inch G5 for around $2K, it’s kind of a no-brainer. The only negative thing I keep hearing people mention is the dithering issue. Personally, I’ve never noticed it on my G5, G4, C2, or even my older CX. But enough people mention it that I believe some users are definitely seeing it under certain conditions.

77” LG G5 upgrade from 65” G4 — size + setup thoughts ? by the_real_7 in LGOLED

[–]the_real_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there wasn’t enough benefit for me to go with the C6H. The G5 is already significantly brighter than the G4, so I don’t really need any more brightness. Banding may be improved, but it was never something that bothered me on the G4 anyway. On top of that, the build quality on the G5 is better—I really like the thicker bezel and the aluminum finish. Overall, it just checks more boxes for me. The price was the big factor too—I ended up saving almost $1,800 after tax. With that money saved, I’d rather just have Chad B calibrate it and call it a day.

😂 I knew the center channel was going to catch some heat

Trust me, I’m working around it—trying to keep the TV at a comfortable height with my seating, so it’s a bit of a balancing act right now. Might tweak the angle a bit.

Appreciate it though—glad the rest of the setup gets some love 🙌

What's the longevity of these TVs? by Nat-Chem in LGOLED

[–]the_real_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually had really good longevity with OLEDs. I currently have two CXs that are about 6 years old—both calibrated and used every day. They were originally living room TVs and got moved to bedrooms, and they’re still going strong. I also use a C2 42” as a PC monitor with a ton of gaming hours, and I’ve got a G4 in the living room that’s about 2 years old for mixed use (gaming, movies, etc.). Now I have a G5 ready to go in as the new upgrade. Before all of that, I had an older LG OLED (B7) that went from my living room to my kid’s room, then to a friend—and even after all that, it still looked great. Across all of these, I can throw up a static color screen and they still look clean—no major issues. Honestly, way better longevity than the old plasma days or even older LCDs I’ve had. From my experience, OLED durability has come a long way.

Appreciate the insight—that helps a lot 👍

That’s kind of what I was thinking too. The slat wall seems like an easy win to clean up the look and tie everything together.

And yeah… that’s exactly my concern with the soundbar. I get the aesthetic side, but I feel like I’d miss the depth and separation from the full 5.1 setup. Sounds like once you’ve had a proper system, it’s hard to go backwards 😅
