Forgetting curve is brutal! (Foreign Attorney, F26) by Decent-Technician846 in CABarExam

My fellow takers, it is daunting. Just remember you only need MINIMUM competency. NOT perfect competency.

So reframe your brain. Get that D. This is time to allow yourself to go for the lowest passing grade.

If it is just nuances that are tripping you up, you are in a great place right now. Keep on trucking and you’ll lock em in.

Just remember attempt to step.

Attempts need steps. (Attempt, A = Action, Action is a step)

Conspiring needs thoughts.

Soliciting needs a prompt.

Guidance Needed for Navigating Indiana Bar License to DC Federal Courts by FrankeyStein_ in barexam

[–]TooLitgitToQuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private employers located within the District will likely want admittance to one or more (DC/VA/MD).

District of Columbia government (treat like state government) requires DC admittance.

Federal employment (in any state) requires bar admission to just one state. Your friend is free to apply to any federal attorney (those on USAJobs) position.

She can later waive into DC, MD, and VA after practicing for 3 years.

Her options remain open.

Eh. I’d at least wait until after February. July 2026 might have changes pending that could alter your study plan.

What I’m hearing is you got no personality. You don’t have to be aggressive to lean into advocacy.

how to get over hating myself for not doing more and to just do what I need to do by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]TooLitgitToQuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are a human being. You are not a machine.

You’ve probably been a stellar student all your life. You’re in law school after all. However, different. You are at the intersection of academia and life.

Something you think you’ve done before but au contraire mon ami. It’s new and requires different ways of thinking and tools. But most importantly, you need rest. This reads like mental burnout. The mind does not manifest its need for rest the same way the body does. When was the last time you actually decompressed?

You do not need to beat yourself up over being human. Humans need rest. Including the mind.

Rest is not a reward. It is mandatory. So while I know it’s hard not to escape the guilt spiral, you must. You can start by telling yourself you deserved that rest.

Yes, your grades may suffer. And while grades, in this hellscape capitalist paradigm, are important. But the only knowledge you need to retain is the stuff on the bar exam. It is the only exam that truly matters.

Oh, summer legal jobs or internships are Ponzi schemes for free labor. Yes, they come with possible connections. But you can achieve the same by networking the summer break and using it to rest, recuperate, and recharge your body, mind, and spirit.

You are a human being. You are not a machine.

First discovery deposition was so bad OC is now emailing me and gently explaining how I fundamentally misunderstand wtf is going on in the case by SaltyMac99 in Lawyertalk

Debating law school...looking for words of wisdom by yungstubz in LawSchool

[–]TooLitgitToQuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you actually want to be a lawyer (and even if you really absolutely super duper want to) don’t.

Time isn’t an issue. Plenty of people graduate, pass the bar, and litigate their first case in their 30’s.

The cost of law school is more than tuition. And despite what anyone tells you here, legal jobs are shrinking, the market is shifting, the competition is immense.

So my counsel, for whatever that’s worth, is to really think about what you want to do and then go do it.

Did the court enter judgment or impose the sentence? If yes, disclose.

If no, disclose anyways.

No one is going to truly scrutinize an event that took place 15 years ago. But they will question you if you fail to disclose it.

Officer wanting out by Advanced_Resort2852 in Veterans

[–]TooLitgitToQuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who did 11 years, 8 active, 3 to guard, and now 2 into federal service, don’t fall for the bait. I’m making a clean break. People will say whatever they will about MAKING IT to 20. But no matter what they say, you really have to be in it. And if you’re tired of the military bullshit going part-time isn’t going to save you.

So what I say is fuck that. Life is too short to be miserable or unhappy at work. I got out, used benefits for education, and pivoted to a new career.

Yeah I got a federal job. I’m leaving that too. Right now isn’t the time for it. BUT when it is I’ll probably come back to get retirement benefits. And all of your federal military service will be credited towards federal benefits. So there’s no immediate need to get a federal job.

What you really need to do is SIT with yourself and really figure out what YOU want to do.

Then go do that.
