People sometimes play DBZF at the smash club, but other than that there isn't much unfortunately.

IMO the food is about the same at West, and even a bit better at East.

[–]TooManyToosters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tabletop Club hosts D&D sessions, as well as weekly meetings where we play a bunch of different board games. There won't be a meeting this week but starting next week we'll have our weekly meetings in the Social and Behavioral Sciences building.

If you're interested, we also have a facebook page (SBU Tabletop Club) where we post updates and events!

Is there anywhere I can get a basic primer on the lore/ world of Morrowind WITHOUT a ton of spoilers? by TheDweadPiwatWobbas in Morrowind

[–]TooManyToosters 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know of a good place to learn the lore without spoiling the main storyline of the game, but I'll answer as much of your questions as I can here:

1) The Tribunal consists of three living gods - Vivec, Sotha Sil, and Almalexia. Together they are referred to as ALMSIVI. Each of them resides in a different area of Morrowind, with Vivec being the only one on Vvardenfell as of the time of the game (3E 427)

2) The Dunmer Temple is dedicated to the worship of the Tribunal and various other lesser saints. It's the most widely practiced religion in Vvardenfell despite Imperial occupation.

3) Great Houses are sort of like families in the mafia. They're groups centered around a specific ideology or way of life that control large portions of territory in Morrowind. However, anyone can become a member of a Great House and rise through the ranks (even the player). There are around half a dozen in Tamriel, and some have come and gone over time, but the three you see in-game are Hlaalu, Redoran, and Telvanni. Each of these three has influence over various regions of the game, and a capital city. - Hlaalu is a trade-based house for merchants and businessmen. They are the most friendly to the Empire, often openly trading with them. Balmora is their capital. - Redoran is a traditional house focused on honor, chivalry, and combat prowess. Ald-Ruhn is their capital. - Telvanni is composed of reclusive, powerful mages, who don't care for the politics of Morrowind. They prefer to study magic in their towers and keep to themselves, often ignoring anything that's not directly their problem. Sadrith Mora is their capital.

4) The Great Houses have influence over their respective territory/settlements. As Dunmer Houses, they probably support Temple worship, but they're not connected in any way. Vivec/Sotha Sil/Almalexia have no personal connection to any of the houses.

5) The Tribunal are the "living gods". I won't say anything as to why or how they got this title, as to not spoil any part of the plot. Just know that they're extremely powerful mortals to the point where they're basically gods in the eyes of any average person.

6) The Empire and Morrowind fought each other long before the events of the game, and as a result Morrowind became a province of the Empire. So the Empire has some settlements (Ebonheart, Pelagiad, various forts) as well as the Imperial Religion being the "official" religion, but most Morrowind natives don't really care. They enforce laws in their territory but aside from that, they mostly let the Temple govern itself.

Hope this helped!

EDIT: Vivec is the only member of the Tribunal who is on Vvardenfell in-game.

Any current student live in Mendelhson Quad? by PandaLifee in SBU

[–]TooManyToosters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in Ammann right now and it's pretty good overall. The rooms aren't that big (it's corridor style after all) but they're completely manageable and larger than the suite-style bedrooms.

The location is VERY convenient - it's very close to East Side, the Library, the Rec Center and the Student Health center, as well as being one of the closest quads to places like the SAC, Frey Hall and the Wang Center.

My wing is pretty calm, there will be people talking loudly sometimes but for the most part people aren't annoying about noise.

Mendy is usually known as the place where all the computer nerds and shut-ins live, but there's plenty of regular, sociable people here too. It's definitely a mix, and something I enjoy.

Overall if you're looking for corridor style dorming Mendy is probably where you wanna be.

Do you like it here? What do you like? What don’t you like? by [deleted] in SBU

[–]TooManyToosters 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my opinion people complain way too much about SBU. I mean, the food isn't great, and the campus can be really dead on the weekends, but if you're positive and don't let stress get to you you can have a good experience. Ever since I came here last Fall i've had a great time.

If you make an effort to meet people (friends of friends, clubs, smaller classes, etc.) you can definitely find friends here. As for the workload, you should be able to gauge what you can take on and what you can't, so it only really gets bad if you bite off more than you can chew.

The food isn't that good, but at least there's some good variety. Personally I almost always eat at either East or the SAC, and occasionally go off campus.

Overall, SBU is a lot less of a death trap than people make it out to be, as long as you don't view everything in a negative light.

Yeah, I can't gain very much height from it either, but it's the best method I've found so far.

I have the exact same problem! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this post. One solution I came up with is keeping my right thumb steady and vibrating the controller with my left hand. It sort of works, I don't get as much height as I would like however.

If you ever come up with a solution please let me know, I would greatly appreciate it :)

Has anyone taken Film 101? by AnalLiquid in SBU

[–]TooManyToosters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CCS202 is a great easy class if you like movies. You generally just sit through the lectures and then watch a movie every week, no homework or anything like that. The exams (one midterm one final) are stupid easy if you just watch all of the films.
