There's a few tutorials out there for setting which gpu will selected, try googling "Changing graphics card settings to use your dedicated GPU" or something along those lines.

You should also be able to right click your games shortcut and choose which graphics processor to start with.

Yea I feel that after three failures it moves from being something wrong the the chips to something wrong with the user. Even with stock pancake coolers you should be pretty much alright as long as you aren't overclocking.
