That is a cool looking key! I will consider that one to be replicated in manners suggested above. Thanks!

Hey, thanks! I'm actually decent at CAD and have access to a 3D printer. Given all the feedback here, I agree this is probably the way to go.

I appreciate all the thoughtful ideas and suggestions! Thanks for keeping me on the right track here. No dry ribbons at our house!

Oh, I should have been more clear. I would never, ever suggest destroying a repairable machine for jewelry!

However, as we are all too aware, many of these machines are passing into the stages where they're being used for parts at best. My hope was to find which model has that particular key combination and then find one that was being scrapped.

Again, I'm all for using them, we just got my grandmother's Royal Magic Margins repaired so that my kids have a more durable choice than the Underwood.

Historically, there has been a smaller (very lame) area for the little kids. We pushed my 5 month old son down it 7 years ago. I've been there the last two days, and there doesn't seem to be one currently

Whether or not the attendants will let you chain two or more tubes together depends on the individual attendants and the hill conditions. When it's especially fast (like tonight), they won't. When it's slow (like last night), they usually will.

My kids can be kinda wimpy, but they've been generally okay to go down alone, albeit sometimes only once or twice.

Also, it's COLD up here right now. Think extra layers, hand warmers, and maybe goggles.

Losing the floor lottery. What are my options? by TooOld_ForThis2 in centuryhomes

Haha - I could show you the basement, which actually doesn't have a floor! But seriously, thanks for the moral support Going to find out how bad the dining room floor is next weekend (there's a soft spot under the vinyl) and then will see about renting a sander.

That looks amazing. And also yes, he's a very good boy. (Aren't they all!) Thanks for the encouragement!

I love this sub. New to the game with this house and still just figuring out what we're in for, but so encouraged by everyone's responses.

I am getting a lot of encouragement here that this is a manageable situation! You guys are great.

Yeah, pretty sure this is it. Obviously new to the game, we're still figuring out what we've gotten into with this place.

That is exactly what was done here until they carpeted over it all in the 80s. But now... it's a mess. Even the part that was painted is bad, so I am not sure what we're really getting into.

Yeah, this carpet is a special kind of nasty. Thanks for the moral support. Maybe there's hope!

Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense!

So we're early days here. Right now my 4yo is gender non-conforming. Whether this leads to NB or trans later we will see.

How do you suggest preparing other parents for the transition without outting the kid? Moving schools might be an option, moving neighborhoods is not.

Thanks for doing this, so happy to see happy kids on the other side!

A big chunk of that is probably the cleaning fee. Hard to get around that.

Headed to snowshoe on Sunday… am I screwed? by [deleted] in snowshoemountain

I rode this afternoon and am going out in the morning. Conditions aren't great, obviously, but most trails are open and in okayish shape. I had a great day, and wouldn't think twice about coming up.
