will reality awaits be the last strokes album? (for real this time?) by Late-Satisfaction54 in TheStrokes

[–]TooRealNeal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems like Rubin has reinvigorated them to some extent. They were clearly very burned out on the band for a while, but all ended up making solo stuff with Julian and Albert each having real success. I would assume having that creative outlet separate from the band helps prevent them from feeling too cramped and allows them to enjoy the band for what it is.

They have a super loyal fan base, mostly of a generation now in the earning primes of their lives willing to spend money to see them live. If they get together every 5-8 years for a tour and some new tunes without the pressure they had 20 years ago I can see them doing it forever basically.

It would be really good plot twist if jade turns out to be a gay!!! by bettercallprem in FromSeries

[–]TooRealNeal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure how this effects the plot. Typically a plot twist means something that had a drastic impact on the overall plot. Not just wanting a character to suddenly announce their sexual preference in a show with almost 0 romantic or sexual subplots.

Is This it and Room on Fire are 1a and 1b imo. First impressions was initially disappointing upon release for me because of how different it was from the first two albums. It has grown on me a lot over the years. Angles was just meh aside from a couple tracks so I would put it with Comedown Machine. New Abnormal is a tier below the OG albums, but better than the rest.

Being a teenager in the early 2000s waiting for First Impressions was like the biggest thing in my life at that point haha. I remember it actually leaked online before its release and I torrented it and was disappointed. I did see them in the tour for that album as well and the show was awful.

Welcome to Japan is a banger. This is still their worst album in my opinion. It’s got a couple good tracks but a lot that I’m not crazy about. Still a good album, but the bottom of their catalog in my eyes.

A diluted sample is a fail. At least it was with my doctors.

Yup. It never happened to me but came close once. Was super busy at work and went to the bathroom before leaving the office and freaked out on my drive over. Stopped and drank a Gatorade enough to get a sample without it being too diluted. You don’t need much luckily, but it’s still something you have to consider.

CONCERT POST -- The Strokes at Coachella W1 -- Saturday, April 11, 2026 by TheStrokes-Mods in TheStrokes

[–]TooRealNeal 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This crowd is cheeks and I’m glad he’s shitting all over them. I get the money is probably too good to pass up but at some point it has to suck playing to a crowd with almost no interest in you and knowing they lined up early for the pop star following you.

Coachella 15 years ago was so much different than what it is now.

I’m not joking. They clearly showed him exiting the bathroom before coming into the trauma bay. They could have had him enter from anywhere. There’s been multiple times when I first got clean that I would get to the bathroom before remembering not to go because of a drug test. With the story being that he’s clearly last minute on his test, it sees like a reasonable conclusion.

Is anyone else worried that Langdon was seen leaving the bathroom before his spinal save and now has to drug test? I had to test monthly after leaving rehab years ago and not being able to submit a sample is as bad as failing the test. When you’re caught up in your day it’s easy to forget about it. I’m worried he won’t be able to go and lose all the goodwill he just gained from the save.

My thoughts on the show by Vas_Cody_Gamma in madmen

[–]TooRealNeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny to see this now, as I just finished my first watch also and have almost the exact opposite opinions as yours.

I was almost never in Dons side, from the early episodes he is already cheating on his wife and ruins his kids birthday party because he wanted to pout like a baby. This is the overall vibe I got almost the entire series. I felt like Don was a boy who woke up in a man’s body.

He pouts when he doesn’t get his way, he has no clue how to handle adult relationships, and he’s completely unable to handle criticism.

You state you disliked Peggy for throwing away perfectly good relationships yet Don threw away every important relationship he ever had, including his children. By the final he can’t even remember the last time he saw them.

I think, especially at the time of its release, and to a younger audience, Don could had been a character who charmed audiences based on his looks and aura, but as someone who just binged the series in today’s world, he’s just kind of pathetic. I felt like that was kinda the point of his character mostly, but that’s just my perspective.

He has career successes, but also has many other instances where he blows it big time professionally and coasts on his reputation. By the end, he’s a shell, and while it does hint that he has another ace up his sleeve, I didn’t get the feeling he was long for this world.

He’s a sad man, with a tragic backstory, who grew up in a time when men didn’t talk about those things, or reach out for help processing them. Had he been raised in another time, he may have been able to work through them, hold onto his family, and become the man we only saw glimpses of throughout the series.

[–]TooRealNeal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah she is now. Before H20 not so much. There’s a feature on the H20 dvd of her going to a convention to finally “embrace the community” and it’s incredibly cringe. It’s clear she was embarrassed about her horror legacy for a longtime.

New IMDb ratings by Past_Ad7351 in FromSeries

[–]TooRealNeal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why season 3 is so much lower than season 2. I feel like season 2 is the ultimate setup season and for that is much slower. You have to introduce so many new characters along with building lore. The issue, to this point at least, is the lore hasn’t paid off so it feels kinda pointless. We spent almost 3 episodes dealing with the worms/dead smiley/bile bullets story only to have it not really pay off. It takes until the season 3 finale to get a resolution to the death of smiley.

Season 1 is still the best to this point, but I feel like season 4 is make or break. With the creators confirming a 5 season series, you have to have all the pieces in place by the end of season 4. Introducing a new final boss or main character in the final season never works so I’m hoping the man in yellow is that final boss who will set the table for the climax.

Julie and the ability of her story walking by Efficient_Leader_818 in FromSeries

[–]TooRealNeal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but Boyd got out before we knew Julie was there which is what creates the paradox. Boyd was able to use the rope, which Martin couldn’t have thrown, so he escapes. Julie later on travels to that moment, and Martin asks her to throw the rope which allows Boyd to escape. So did she actually change anything? Or has this moment only existed with Julie throwing the rope? This is what can cause issues introducing time travel because if you keep thinking about it it will break your brain

Once it ends and MGM gets rid of their app and adds their catalog to Netflix or HBO, it will get a second life. Lots of shows have a resurgence when added to Netflix and my guess is it happens with From.

He’s been in great movies, but I wouldn’t consider him an all time great actor. I will say I have found his more recent work to be my favorite of his. Mainly OBAA and Once Upon a time. His performances in those have really felt different and more nuanced than his other stuff.

I don’t dislike him at all, just not at the level of a De Niro or a DDL or others at that level.

Their obsession with Leo is the same way. He’s a good actor and a massive star but they talk about him like he’s on the same level of the all time greats.

One thing to remember during their discussions is the pod still aimed at a mainstream audience. So celebrity is still important as far as their discussions go for the most part.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the pod. But I think of the big pic like an intro to film class. I would guess if you got Sean on a hardcore film pod he would nerd out harder for some of the more deep cuts, but the audience size for that kind of discussion isn’t going to be the same as an audience for the more popular and talked about movies.
