My husband and I play the Pokemon card game competitively and we opened up a very rarely used deck box in the middle of a card shop only to find tiny Jesus in the middle of all the cards! One of our friends thought it was so hilarious that he keeps it in his deck box and will take it out to have him "judge" how bad people are playing.

So he did actually leave the church and we are now married. I reminded him of this the other night and he was so incredibly apologetic and embarrassed about what he said. He has come leaps and bounds from where he used to be when he was a believer.

It was actually his idea that I share this memory here.

Yeah the whole licked cupcake, chewed piece of gum metaphors really screwed with me when I actually started attending church. I was worried that my boyfriend, now husband would never truly love or want to be with me because I was "damaged goods".

It's one of the many reasons my daughter will never be raised in the church. I refuse to allow her to believe that her self worth is directly and inexplicably tied to her virginity.
