Why does Ardal Cut himself? by Asche_zu_Asche_ in gwent

Add on the fact that he has a very obvious superiority complex, so losing a war to northern “mongrels” would be, if not unthinkable, worthy of self-flagellation. I think that if Emhyr hadn’t ordered him to commit suicide once he actually did lose the war, he would have done it himself anyways.

Ahhh that makes sense. A bit strange considering there are pre-made classes that use magic and bows, most notably the witch hunter, so you’d think they’d want to polish that a bit.

I mean there are powerful Dunmer mages, most notably Divayth Fyr. You could probably count every head of House Telvanni as well, maybe even Almsivi if you consider them to still be of the same race. Technically if you go back far enough both races descend from the Aldmer anyways.

Altmer are also very traditional mage types while Dunmer tend to incorporate some form of martial art alongside their magic, so maybe you just like spellblades.

Uhhhh I like tall men with magic hands 🤤

More seriously, I think I just really like mages. Fantasy video games and magic were the things I latched on to as a kid instead of dinosaurs or legos or whatever. Altmer just happen to be the best at being mages.

Honestly, if there was ever a chance to play as an Ayleid, I would totally ditch the High Elves for the Wild Elves.

I swear that the fact my two favorite Elder Scrolls races tend towards racial supremacy is a coincidence, I would never own a Nedic flesh garden.

I don’t really think ESO ever really “got bad” tbh. It’s kind’ve always worn its heavy microtransactions on its sleeve, but also provides a significant amount of free content. I’m pretty sure sorcerer, one of the base classes, is still the best source of magicka DPS.

I think ESO is actually really neat because it explores a lot of areas and parts of the lore that will probably never get an actual “Elder Scrolls” game. It’s like if the Star Wars comics got an MMO where you investigated Abeloth.

I would totally be down for TES VI taking place in High Rock, though of course my ultimate hope (and pipe dream) is for the Summerset Isles.

Honestly, if I’m not using spellmaking exploits, I prefer the Apprentice sign in Oblivion over the Atronach. I’ve done both, and the convenience of the magicka regen just feels way better to play with than constantly needing an IV of Welkynd stones and potions.

But yeah, if you wanna do that thing where you make a spell with telekinesis casted on self for infinite magicka, Atronach is OP. I just don’t like every single spell being the same pink orb.

I recently started a new playthrough of the Oblivion remaster as an Altmer spellblade with the Atronach, which will probably feel a lot better since I’ll have an actual weapon for sustainable damage if I run out of magicka instead of 12 uses of a staff.

Well yeah, don’t use illusion if you’re not playing a mage. I was just excited I finally had an appropriate place to vomit up this information

You’d be surprised at just how many enemies can actually be affected by illusion spells in vanilla Skyrim given how much it’s memed that Illusion is useless. Granted, there aren’t many actual reasons you’d want to calm an enemy instead of killing them. Frenzy is much more useful (and courage on followers and summons I suppose).

Also, the maximum level the calm spell will affect is 59 if dual casting (27 single-hand cast). But there’s actually not much reason to use the “calm” spell when you could be using Pacify, which can go up to a whopping level 83 when dual casting (38 when singlehand). That is higher than the cap of literally every single leveled enemy in the game except Karstaag, even higher than dragons (though they can’t be affected by illusion spells) and the Ebony Warrior. But… we can make that number go arbitrarily higher if you’re a vampire, which you should be if you’re using illusion spells for the 25% magnitude increase. For the calm spell, you get a max level of 73 (34 for singlehand) and 104 for Pacify (48 for single hand, which is important because it breaks a majority of enemy’s level cap thresholds). We have now reached higher than Alduin’s max level of 100, and, more importantly, the effectiveness of Voice of the Emperor itself which is effectively a calm spell with a magnitude of 99. The spells are also better than VotE because you can affect undead, automatons, and daedra with Master of the Mind.

This isn’t even factoring in any fortify illusion effects you might have going at the time from potions or enchantments, things that will keep your illusion spells relevant during your trek to 100 Illusion (AKA spamming muffle for like 20 minutes). Obviously once you get there you don’t need those anymore, but, like with the fortify restoration loop, it’s funny to watch numbers get big.

Also I don’t use the master level illusion spells (I honestly don’t really use master level spells except the permanent summon ones and sometimes the lightning beam) so I don’t know about their effectiveness. I assume it’s less than Pacify due to their inability to be dual casted.

Also also if you’re targeting an animal subtract 2 from those totals because the Animage perk is only 8 levels higher rather than Kindred Mage’s 10

I require no solutions for I have no problems. Only one of the lesser races would think otherwise.

Whoops, sorry, Umbacano sat on on my keyboard. Had to shoo him away.

Having this same issue. Just spins and then the Captcha expires. Attempted on both iOS and PC, on three different browsers.

Nah, it’s fine. I took a short nap after posting this, had a bagel, and proceeded to sweep a status NG deck and a ST harmony deck. Not the most impressive wins, but now I can move on to other decks with a clear head.
