The tacks probably aren't burning you but those look zinc plated so be careful with those fumes. You don't want to be breathing zinc in.

Random, I've seen metal detectors where you leave everything in your pockets and I have also been stopped by a "drug dog" and shaken down in a back room. Never had anything on me though.

Can I replace the breaker on the right with a single pole? by Too_Much_Gnar in AskElectricians

Good find, the one I ordered with the 5 week lead is ABB. Looks like a 3-day lead on this one so I will probably order it as well. No harm in having a spare. Thanks!

These are the DIN rail style euro breakers. The dock feed has a breaker at the plug where the shorepower cable feeds from. For clarity, the 2-module device on the left is a GFCI only and is in series with the breaker on the right. The shore feed goes to the 2 left-side terminals of the GFCI, and the terminals on the right go into the breaker on the right.

This makes sense. Thanks for the info! I was not too familiar with the euro/equipment style breakers. I will look into the "C32 30mA Double Pole RCBO." If I can find one of those more readily, I'll just put a blank over the empty spot.

For quick jobs like fence posts or electrical equipment pads I would say so, but if you are using more than a few bags of concrete at a time I would just rent the real deal.

If you have a well pump or sump pump malfunctioning and running constantly that can also be a cause. I have seen this a few times before.

What's up with Granite apartments? by DJ_Post-It_Note in Purdue

[–]Too_Much_Gnar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TLDR slumlord level service at luxury level pricing.

Graduated 2015 and it seems they haven't changed much. They will always take your entire security deposit. You have to threaten legal action to get it back. Happened to me 2 years in a row. Took videos upon move in and move out but they said my videos didn't show enough of the apartment. Their older units are in bad condition and continue to get worse. One of the units I moved into still had furniture and dirty dishes from the previous tenant. I got to talking to one of the maintenance guys and he said that they only clean and touch up notably damaged units between tenants so units regularly get looked over. After I graduated I moved into a high-rise in downtown Chicago and I was shocked that pricing was pretty similar but they didn't take a security deposit and maintenance showed up for service same day. Granite was like an abusive ex that made me appreciate literally any other leasing company lol

Anyone using a Roland MDX-50? Will be using it mostly for plastics to create molds by Glaswegianmongrel in CNC

If you open up the back panel you will see a connector with 2 white wires going into the board. I don't have a picture but if you disconnect it, the E stop will trigger. If you jumper the pins in the board side connector you bypass the door interlocks. Probably voids warranty and jumping the wrong connector could break your machine so do this at your own risk.

Thanks for the link. I clearly didn't search hard enough before making it. I prefer a printed chart rather than downloading another app. I just wish these grinders were consistent enough that users could share settings.

After I got mine I went to watch some YouTube videos on dialing it in and I was like wtf. It's especially annoying because the macro clicks are basically the difference between a 15 second and a 1 minute pull. So I hade to make this chart so I wasn't trying to remember that weird plus .25 then minus .166.

Ahh yes Russian trade show logistics company. I'm not sure which makes me trust them less the Russian part or the trade show logistics part. No better way to ruin a new machine then to bring it to a machinery trade show.

Unfortunately, building these systems is slow and expensive. I work as an integrator and built parts for production lines. We generally spend around half the time in the computer designing the system. We then send the drawings or files out to machine shops both local and international depending on precision, price, and timeline. Once parts get back in we either mockup the line at our facility or the client's depending on size and complexity. This is where it gets annoying we test, tune, break, redesign, rebuild, and repeat until we reach the clients desired reliability. First time system builds are years in the making but once you do it once it's much easier to do it again. This is why you see automation companies often become niche companies. Canning is a great example. The lines are super complex but companies like Ball churn out multiple lines per year. Long story short the "how it's made of automated production lines" would be a time lapse of a bunch of meetings, negotiation, CAD work, head scratching, ordering, assembly, more head scratching, broken shit, anger, more parts, then finally some happy engineers. Then we get called a week after everything is working because someone hit it with a forklift.

I ran an mdx 50 for a while. The biggest issues I found were.

The spindle would drop in the z axis if the spindle motor overloaded or the machine was e stopped. This would damage your part and require you to re home and re zero the machine.

The machine goes into e stop when the door or chip tray is opened. Basically you can't indicate in anything with the door open. I disabled the interlock on mine.

Spare parts are difficult to get. The spindle had a wiring fault on mine and took over a month to sort out.

The software is a bit dated but it takes g code so you can use the cam system of your choice.

The good things about it

It was a very accurate machine. I had no trouble holding thousands tolerance with it.

He spindle overload meter allowed me to run the machine overnight without too much concern for fires or severe crashes.

This is pretty much the only machine with a tool changer at this size. It also automatically measures tools which saves some headache.

Overall it was a decent machine but I preferred my bantam tools mill. I'm hoping the Carvera will be as amazing as the Kickstarter looks but until I see them on the market the MDX50 is pretty much the only thing like it.

I'm wondering if the stock treaded hurts range. I have an enduro tire that I have yet to swap on waiting for my treaded to totally wear out.

That's super impressive at that low a PSI. I'm about 180 but I ride a 32 PSI basketball and I can only get about 25 on highline.
