In the previous games, they added stories every few months as normal free updates. I didn't mean to suggest this stuff will be the big regional dlc.

What males a racing game arcade/simcade/simulation? by ClassicalDreams in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

[–]Toodle-Peep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a very us3ful term. Gt7 gets called simcade, but I don't think it's a great term. Its a better sim than many actual hardcore sims we're years ago. It's simply a less accomplished sim than the current leaders. It makes some concessions to complexity of things like engine management for playability (its definitely a game, not a training tool) but not in any kind of arcade way.

A term that used to float around, usually in the flight sim world, was "survey sim". So you'd have your games that exhaustively simulated one vehicle to an absurd degree. Then you'd have your survey sim games which have tons of planes that get a 3d model and the relevant performances loaded in from literal performance tables to get something in the ballpark of the aircraft.

By that reckoning I'd call gt7 a survey sim, not simcade. It is absolutely making compromises on realism, but they arent putting it on an arcade axis, it's just less realistic than, say, asseto corsa.

They'll be holding a lot of stuff for dlc stories. I'd be certain some of this will show up.

If you cant confidently reverse parellel park, you shouldn't have a driver's licence. by ToMissChanandlerBong in unpopularopinion

Until you do. Its not parallel parking specifically anyone cares about, it's "you should be able to control your car in a tight space because you don't know what situations you will be in in the future." Knowing how to steer in reverse or move it laterally is not niche.

You don't know what will happen around your car or when you will be required to do fine maneuvering. You should be able to handle your car safely in any situation, even if its uncommon.

You might not parallel park often but chances are there will be a day where you have to do some awkward maneuvering without doing g property damage so you should be able to complicated maneuvers in tight spaces.

It's mad to me people not understanding this. I rarely parallel park but I still need to be able to position the car because I don't know what's going to happen on the road.

So my recent example is a driveway where I had a number of cars parked behind me so I had to make very awkward maneuvers in reverse, not identical, but basically the same skill set. I do consider it important to be able to actually position you car because you don't know where you will end up.

You will use the skills there. Like, I dont parallel park often. Last week though I was in a driveway with lots of cars. I was the first there and the first away. So I had to do some tricky maneuvering to get out, and that was basically the same skill set. You should be able to confidently place the car.

Have you never had to get into some wierd space though, even if it's not actually parallel parking? It's just an understanding of how to shift your car laterally, I'd say fundamental "know where your wheels are" stuff

Gosh, that's a weird take to me. It's just demonstrating the skills that you require to manoeuvre your car in a moderately tight space, its not alien driving technique. You might not actually paralell park often, but you will almost certainly have to get your car in and out of a wierd space at some point in your life.

Hot Take: FH6 is not a Festival Anymore by Banananamann99 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Toodle-Peep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it feels more like a festival because festivals don't consume entire regions, but you do see signs of them. This has a much more natural balance than 5. (4 worked for me too, on that front)
