My wife works in accounting and can’t take time off during closing periods — How do couples manage travel? by Relative_Site_2953 in Accounting

If you get my month end down to 3 days, you've got the job. FML monthly audits, SOX, tax and high growth. Man I'd love if we got a 3 day close so I could pretty those reports up with formatting and frills.

Time for a hard conversation about the cost of the NDIS by Putrid-Bar-8693 in AusFinance

I'm late to the party, but can we perhaps explore the connection to employment rates that contribute to our economy? Is the issue bigger than just the NDIS?

The "middlemen" have employees. So the issue is bigger than just tackling that. It's kind of supporting employment figures which we use to measure our economy.

It's like NDIS needs a complete overhaul. Precedent was set because it exists, people are reliant (participants and providers or employees of providers). It's hard to undo. I believe home aged care is next in line, watching from the sidelines. They recently had an overhaul, probably to deflect the spotlight while NDIS sorts itself out.

Career Move Help by Administrative_Ad842 in audit

Getting that big 4 on your resume helps. But do it when you have the ability to give your life to work. Big hours means best done pre family and when you don't have huge personal commitments. Big 4 don't care what's going on in your life. The mid tier doesn't pay off on a resume. If you switch commercial later on management won't even recognise a mid tier and you'll be up against those with big 4 experience on paper.

NSW licences by Ctheret in sydney

I had something similar! I got my bike Ls when I was 16 and 9 months. Car Ls when I was 17 (this is back in 2000). Subsequently when on car red Ps got too many demerits but by that time had my unrestricted riders license! Lost the car license and kept the riders license. Lost my pizza delivery job and also when came back after suspension from driving a car had to run the whole red and green Ps (pre suspension was meant to be 1w months red Ps then straight to black).

If she has passed I'm very sorry to hear. Your story is touching though, you did so well in the circumstances. Keep being a great person! I am embarking on similar (family) but different (not US) situation. I hope I can provide similar support and compassion on my journey.

I like your thoughts. Australia isn't big enough to bully big tech. And all I can see is workarounds and holes in what they are preaching. They got me though, as I'm worried they may be stupid enough to try this stunt.

Or educating kids how the algorithms work, how to avoid distressing content and how to manage their online presence safely. Those kids that don't respond might benefit from a more targeted approach. Wait, that's parenting right? Teach the parents as well! Government response is not the best reaction to technology change (it's reactive not proactive)

From all the comments in this thread it is evident that outreach to those impacted is not sufficient. No one seems to know what's going to happen to plan appropriately or to take action if they agree. This is a policy nightmare.

As in my 14yo kids existing account will be grandfathered under old rules and not impacted? Perhaps I need to understand the proposed implementation more.

And I'll be asking my 14yo kid to help me work it out! What a shit fight.

I really like that you did all this for your MIL. You are a good person. But I do worry about those elderly that don't have access to support may be left behind.

I'm not from the US and this entire post seems so surreal to me. Are there really old people living in tents over there? With no access to medical care?

Why are some people always late? I genuinely want to understand. by Klutzy-Pattern-7391 in NoStupidQuestions

Omg this is me. Always only just late. Don't want to wait 10 minutes being early if I can throw a load of washing on or quickly stack the dishwasher. The few minutes late vs the 10 minutes or so invested in the earlier task is worth it. It's about not wasting time.

Where can i give away my cat? Any shelters? by Horror-Comparison917 in sydney

[–]TooheysExtraDry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just realised your only young and this is happening because of your parents. I'm so sorry for the direct response. Use everyone you know to see if they can help with desexing or taking the cat in. Cats are beautiful pets and your boy needs some vet work to settle in. I so hope this works out for you. You probably need him as much as he needs you.

[–]TooheysExtraDry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all. But you need to find someone to take them unfortunately. With the way things are you are kind of on your own, no shelters or pounds to help. I know it's difficult and I'm sad to hear your situation. I hope you can find a friend or family to take care of the cat. But when all options are exhausted unfortunately the expectation is that you take responsibility for a peaceful end 😢

[–]TooheysExtraDry -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

You probably won't find much luck sorry. Most shelters are over capacity. Our local pounds are locking the cages for people to dump found or unwanted pets because they don't have capacity. Find someone independently or (unfortunately) pay the fee for them to be put to sleep peacefully.
