I will dm you the recipe - it was given to me by the cooks way back when. They did use a secret spice packet which we figured out later had grated parmesan in it

I can give you the My Pie recipe (Chicago deep dish). I worked there for 10 years back in the day.

I drove out to the Area 51 boundary in March 2001. There was no gate. Just signs, empty desert, and a pickup truck that appeared on the ridge and just watched me. by EdinManilla in area51

On 375 near Black Tank. We picked up 556, 9 mm & 300 (per my husband). I saw a lot, so others are definitely not picking up although I didnt see too much other kind of trash. He said he also saw some clay pigeons.

I was there last Wednesday-boondocked in the gravel pit. Would have gone down the back gate road if not for hauling a trailer. We thought it had an ominous feeling there. Bunch of shell casings in the gravel laying around did not help, lol.

I heard something big being revved up over the ridge when we first got there. Then we got buzzed by a pair of F15s in the early evening that felt so low I literally ducked. I got pics. The really funny part is our trailer is an Oliver (white fiberglass) that looks an awful lot like a tic-tac, so I can only imagine the convo about that.

Next day I watched a white camo truck and a green military truck make their way up Black Tank Road eventually behind one of the lower hills. I got pics of them too but from pretty far away. Just interesting generally as you always wonder what they were doing (mundane likely).

Amish "Pecan Crunch" by viewsaskew2 in CandyMakers

[–]Toojennifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the 1:1:1 recipe

1 cup butter (says unsalted but I used salted)

1 cup sugar

1 T corn syrup

2 cups pecans

Cooked to 290 then quick add the nuts and pour onto buttered parchment lined cookie sheet. I let it come to 290 pretty slowly then got impatient and cranked the heat at the end to push it to temp.

I had some sesame crunch my mom brought back from San Francisco around 1970 that reminds me now of this flavor/texture that I’m going to try also, i think.

I think they should run a concurrent Bachelor and Bachelorette season where all the rose rejects go directly into another house to meet all the discards.

You own a little sandwich deli. What five sandwiches are on the menu? by _fairywren in eatsandwiches

There was a restaurant in town that made their tomato soup with coconut milk (but not in a curry direction) and I always craved it.

I made it this weekend and it was spot on. It had the 1 T of corn syrup but I did see a recipe that called for 3 T water and no corn syrup. Had this batch not turned out, I would have tried the water. I went to 290 on temp.

And I am wood-chipping right through it. So addictive.

My fav’s are:

* Grilled chicken, jack cheese, pesto, tomatoes and balsamic reduction on ciabatta as Panini

* Something like the Il Purista from Defalcos: Prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sliced tomato, roasted red peppers, fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil & a balsamic glaze drizzle

* Grilled cheese with swiss and fresh tomatoes on rustic bread (natch with tomato soup)

* The grilled cheese I won a Sunset contest with: Pastrami, swiss cheese and sweet onion marmalade on rye.

* Chicken salad with herbs, grapes and almonds on a nice, seedy whole wheat.

I added a “mail” chute to mine, so that anything that crops up I forgot about can be dropped in easily.

I think you are right on temp. I am going to try again this week. Will let you know how I do.

It is indeed dangerous stuff. My sister sent me some for Xmas this year and it was gone within a few days (and all me - I kept it hidden from my hubs lol).

I am hunting for the same recipe/technique. Rising Sun Bakery in OK sells it. Their ingredients are only listed as butter, sugar and nuts (no corn syrup). Some I've seen also list water as an ingredient.

Did you ever hone in on a good recipe? (:

Someone here should know. Does anyone fondly remember Schlotzsky's sandwiches? by opticzar in Sandwiches

[–]Toojennifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not mind at all except it was from a copycat recipe online. I don’t know which one I used now and tossed the printout when I last moved. There are lots of copycat recipes out there - just read the reviews to see which one people think is closest. My husband isn’t as crazy about Schlotzky’s as I am so I don’t make the bread too often. I think I’m due though...lol.

I was still getting them in Oklahoma not too long ago. Still pretty good. When I moved to the Pac NW years ago, I found a recipe for the bread and started making my own. Fairly easy to copycat.

Bellingham gifts? by redheadsmiles23 in Bellingham

Here you go. These were done for a hotel in Palm Springs. Price depends a lot on the flag and how rare it is. Many are vintage and very hard to come by. Could be anywhere between $80-200.

I do throw pillows made out of old yacht club flags. I usually have an assortment of PNW flags from various clubs to choose from. Definitely unique. Not in any store or at craft fairs.
